My sister-in-law is a cloistered Carmelite. I knew her briefly before she became a nun, when she was just a teenager... Even as a teenager she was above and beyond... She would sleep on the floor next to her bed as a sacrifice. I don't think I ever heard her complain once when asked to do anything around the house, and her list of chores were very long, at her request of course. She would stay up long into the night to pray. She gave up all of her cd's and movies (unheard of for most teenagers). She was truly an inspiration, and continues to be one to me today. We feel immeasurably blessed to have her praying for us and the world each and every day!

The first martyrs during the horrible Reign of Terror who were canonized as saints were The Martyrs of Compiègne, 16 tough-as-nails Carmelite sisters. As their thug guards unjustly ushered them to the guillotine, the sisters showed no fear, forgave their captors, and peacefully sang Laudate Dominum. Yep, Carmelite nuns are indeed the real deal.

@@treeannie8831 Yes! You might be talking about the movie “Dialogue with the Carmelites” (the English title; the movie is French), which is the story of the Martyrs of Compiègne. The film is based on the play of the same name, and the play is based on the original novella, which was written in German by Gertrud von Le Fort. You can find lots of clips of both the film and the play on KZbin, and elsewhere online. Very moving indeed.

My maternal grandmother chose to be dressed as a Carmelite nun as her mortuary clothing. My mother has a first cousin who is a Carmelite nun. Aunt Irene Campos Albala. She's one year younger than my mom. If she's still alive, I know that she's in a nuns retirement home in Spain. They were very mischievous together as young girls, but then she had tuberculosis, and because antibiotics had just begun to exist to save her life, and her family was able to get them, she saw it as a miracle, and decided to consecrate her life to Jesus Christ and become a Carmelite nun. She's definitely fits the level headed tough description. They all are and were. My mother's generation and the two mothers of them all. My aunt Irene named after her mother, my grandmother's older sister. Can/could be very loving, caring, do so much to make others happy, take so much pride in their very hard work, but also level headed tough, yet great senses of humor. We all used to laugh so much together at any kind of family gatherings.

You love your inspiring spiritual books Father. In my youth I used to read the Catholic newspaper from church in the UK, called The Universe. In it there was a column every week by Monsignor Michael Buckley called, Father Michael. He would answer several questions sent in of problems people were facing and at the bottom was a 'good news' story. He had great devotion to the Holy Spirit and ran a healing ministry calling on the Holy Spirit to heal people that came to him. One 'good news' story was that of a Muslim family that came to his healing service. They said, "Look, we are Muslims but we have heard healing takes place here. Could you pray for our little boy? He has serious leukaemia." Father Buckley and his prayer team prayed over the boy. A week or so later the family returned with tears of joy. "Doctors are speechless. His cancer is completely gone!" Father Michael wrote many books and did cassette tapes (in those days) about his ministry to help people. One book he wrote was called, "His Healing Touch". I'm sure you will like it Father Mark. It may not be available in usual places but his Catholic ministry was called El Shaddai (God of the mountain) which has its own website.

In my local Carmelite church in London UK, the holy water has gone, and has been replaced with bottles of chemical hand sanitiser. People entering are required to use this, register their details in a 'track and trace' book, wear a muzzle, and practice 'social distancing'. It's only a matter of time before they will only allow the fully jabbed to enter (as is already the case now with some other public places, and the prime minister has suggested that churches may be amongst the places where the vack,scene will be necessary). It feels more like a sterile clinic now rather than the house of God. Is it like this in your Carmelite church too? Personally, I now prefer to pray alone elsewhere.

This popped up today and I absolutely needed it! I’m honestly getting lazy, it’s causing problems making me feel weak in my body and all I do is feel sorry for myself. Before I saw this video, I watched another that said that laziness, idleness, is a demon. So I prayed today that God would take it away from me. I feel more energetic but I can feel the pull of it. You have given me a weapon against it. I’m going to work hard today, i am going to work hard tomorrow. I’m going to make a list and get started! I’m tired of feeling lazy tired and sorry for myself. I’m gaining weight! I have stated to have high cholesterol problems This laziness is trying to kill me! I’m going to say my rosary and pray than get up and get busy. I am going to get the book! I bought the book, the 1st time you mentioned it!! 😀 I feel like I'm going through what the nun in Spain was going through. I get looks at my local church, I'm shunned and feel unwelcomed, even by the priests. Been going 3 yrs everyday and only 1or 2 people have said hi to me. I have smiled and waved hi when I walked by and make eye contact. I finally couldn't take it anymore and broke down and cried and decided to go to another church further away. Thank you for mentioning this book, I can relate!! I didn't know it was spiritual warfare. God bless!

I have a stepmom who is the worst!! I’m an adult now, 56 years old. My real mother died from breast cancer when I was 9. It took a looong time to forgive her!! She does not have what I’ve been given!! Every time I talk to her or see her, I pray and ask for help! No one wants anything to do with her bc she is so nasty!! Many years ago, I offered all the suffering she caused me for her sanctification. ( I do this for everyone who has offended me-through Mary) It’s very hard but, the biggest reward will be when she makes it to heaven bc of our prayers!! Jesus loves her as much as me!! @@mariemin946 Thank you! You are very sweet! It IS a daily struggle and I get caught off guard many times! I’m trying my hardest not to give up on her but, the evil one knows how to push my buttons! She’s 85. My dad passed away in 2011 and no one else wants to deal with her. It’s so sad!! It could have been so different if she only knew Jesus better!! Big ‘testa dura’ (hard head) as my dad would say!! Praying Jesus enlightens is to the Truth and softens our hearts so, we may all love, know and serve only Him!! 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
