as someone who only has 3 jobs at 90 im definitely gonna use this as an opportunity to test out jobs and get a feel of what i want to play and level next, amongst other things. might do a fresh run through eureka, everyone starting from scratch is gonna be really interesting!!

If people can do some data delving during this stress test and get some good numbers on any differences, it would be interesting to see what the company does with the feedback. It shouldn't be outside the realm of possibility to have at least one dedicated East Coast server.

lmao!! YES! 💜When I was originally making the thumbnail for this video I was totally trying to put Cloud's face on a server, or to have him sitting or standing on one. Eventually, I decided it might be confusing for players who haven't played other FF games so I changed my mind.

I thought that is why open Dynamis to help with the servers when the next expansion lunches. I was hoping cloud servers would give players on the east cost an option for ping. I'm around 75 to 120 ping when playing FF14. It's so inconsistent.

Dynamis will help with character creation (having a world able to take new characters) but it won't help with the number of people currently allowed logged-in at one time. Which is where cloud servers will come in handy. This wasn't advertised to be a test of an east coast sever, but if east-coast people can come up with some pretty significant data during the test, I'm sure they're going to look at it. They were very obvious with saying 'east coast' for a reason, I'm sure.

lol! I was able to see the end of the world on the cloud DC in Amarot with hundreds of other people. It was PACKED, but amazing. Now Balmung seems pretty tame. 🤣

I hope this fixes the delay issue. Imagine insta casting in pvp without having to prepare a second before.

It would only fix the delay issue if these physical servers are closer to your location than the usual ones. The team even released a statement indicating that geographic latency via distance from the physical servers has always been a thing... but forever now they've refused to give a more specific location of them for security reasons. HOWEVER.... The NA servers moved location in 2017 and many people suspect they moved to the West coast. So if this new cloud server fixes your ping, and you live in the east, I would consider that rumour confirmed. >.>

​@@gamer_debbieThere's actually a little known detail to this! Square changed their service provider in ShB and they're really bad at routing traffic. I forgot what the IP was, but you can run tracert to Aether's IP and see where it directs your traffic to. The routing is really not good (probably because of load balancers) and there's one particularly terrible node in like Detroit or something, so some people get STUPID ping and have to use Alexander even though they live next to the DC. I have absolutely no idea how a cloud DC would work but if it can mitigate those routing issues, it's a pretty huge deal! But then again, it probably won't ;-;

Hmmmmmm.... I don't know. I guess I can use the same saved character appearance if possible, and run around seeing stuff. Other than that I've got nothing to do really. Maybe I'll do it if FC friends decide to as well. Edit: Actually, I might try to do it just to help out the dev teams. As I love the game, maybe my contribution will be beneficial.

Exactly! 💜 You never know if you'll be the person who does something in just the right (wrong) way to trigger a bug that they might otherwise not have known existed. lol But failing that, if you live on the East coast it's an opportunity to see how different the latency might be for you, and see if it makes a significant difference to game play one way or the other.

It will definitely be interesting to see what difference it makes! Though from everything I've read, it should make a pretty noticeable difference in particular for Eurpeans playing on NA servers! As someone who lives West Coast, with gigabit internet, I'll be keeping an eye out to see if I notice any latency on it. People have wanted the chance to compare the two like this since the servers moved years ago.
