Moved here to TX and to Boerne from VA not even a year ago. I absolutely love it here. The one thing it took me a while to get used to was restaurants being open "weird" days/hours. Coming from VA Beach the water issues here have taken some time to get used to. Both the water restrictions and also hard water, that has been a completely new one for me.

@LifeinSATX I'm not sure if I could pick just one. The tax situation is much better than back in VA (even with higher property tax rates here), the local shops and restaurants, the warm and welcoming people, natural beauty, the weather. Weather wise I'm used to it being 95 degrees static air temperature with 95% humidity all summer long so the much drier heat is fantastic. Literally the only negative things is not having a well for my sprinkler system like I did back in VA, some of the construction in the area, and the whole having to pay both Kendall and Bexar county since I'm in that part or Boerne. Small prices to pay though.

Small world! I'm from Norfolk! But we live in Oklahoma and looking to relocate to hill country. We're both remote working professionals so don't care about the job market. Quality of life is what matters to us.

@LMJ_Financial I actually moved from Chesapeake but you know how it is, easier to say VA Beach for people outside of the 757. You guys will absolutely love it here in the Hill Country. You pay a premium to live in Boerne and Fair Oaks Ranch but there are absolutely great and cheaper communities around, especially since you're both work from home. But amazing food, amazing people, tons to do.

My favorite place to eat in Boerne is the Cypress grill. We start going during the beginning of fall. We live in San Antonio & own a ranch close to Boerne too. Best of both worlds. It’s so nice going to Boerne because of the small town feel. Christmas is also the best time to go.

I actually lived in San Anton throughout my life as my family had roots there for 4-5 generations. I was ready for a slower pace and less population and more defined seasons like winter and spring etc. We built a house in a suburb of Oklahoma City. So it’s out away from craziness and traffic but all the parks and museums are within 20 miles. The tornados and storms are really something but there’s no competition for parking at stores and restaurants. It’s more affordable in every way but more expensive than it used to be like the rest of world. I miss the charm and history of San Antonio but will drive down to visit in the future. I’m sure nobody cares that I left Texas but that’s my story for now. Thanks for sharing these in depth informational aspects of that part of the state!

I’ve been here for over a decade now. It’s definitely packed. Just getting the kids to school takes over an hour now. The traffic around champion high is insane.

I've been visiting Boerne since the late 90's and yeah, it's completely blown out of proportion since then. I've given guided motorcycle tours of the Texas Hill Country and Boerne was often in there as a stop. My wife loves it but the traffic has blown it for us in the last few visits just last year. We live in Mineral Wells, so we understand water issues and the big city trying to move to the suburbs. The Mc Mansions really blow it for me! It's losing it's small town Texas appeal. It's now a city. I'm not saying that growth is a bad thing and I'm happy that the county has a much larger tax base than it did 26 years ago, but for those of us who remember a quiet little down town area, a quiet walk by the river watching the ducks swim by, shopping in a little hometown grocery store, and getting tacos from a little Mexican cafe, the picture in our minds is now ruined. Now that we're retired, we're looking for a town that is not going to grow up, but can maintain. Even Kerrville is growing at an alarming rate.

@@LifeinSATXliving here in boerne i live near the river which little known I believe they take some form the river itself or under the ground and I haven’t see a lot of water issues but the drought has been crazy they had to renovate the river because of it to!

Yes please don’t move here. Everyone moving here is the reason why the place is getting overcrowded and the prices are going so high. It’s not worth it anymore. In my opinion to move here. Yes, I’m absolutely biased and I don’t want you here because there’s too many people already but I genuinely do think that it’s gotten out of hand pricing wise for most people. I’ve lived here since I was five years old and it’s crazy how different this place is now. If you’re looking to Boerne for small town charm that’s slowly going away. you’ll still recognize people at the grocery store less often than I used to. If you want a small town, you might need to go a little further away from Boerne nowadays. Boerne still don’t get me wrong, but it’s packed like sardines.

A real big stereotype that comes up for those who live around Boerne is that it’s basically Trumpville. Definitely true, not a stereotype. Yes there’s all types of folks living in the area but this town is super right wing so if your hard left just know what to expect when entering the town.

Personally, I am a conservative, so it doesn’t bother me. But I would agree with this. I don’t know about Trumpville necessarily. But it’s definitely more conservative. There have been times in the past when people put up rainbow flags outside of their restaurants and they get them torn down by people that live here. Bear Moon bakery has had this problem a few times. I personally don’t like when people try to stop other peoples freedom of speech so it kind of frustrates me when people do that. But it’s definitely something that you could run into here. But they’re also quite a few liberal people. Just like any place there’s a mix of people. But we definitely have more outspoken Trump people than we do outspoken woke liberals. We have had LGBT Pride parades, but they never have huge attendance.

Born and raised here in San Antonio...I'll be 40 later this year...and we're so ready to move outside of San Antonio. There are way too many people here and it doesn't feel like home anymore. Boerne isn't an attractive place to relocate either because of the number of people that are moving there as well...Texas is so large, yet so overcrowded.

I absolutely 💯 love Boerne and a lot of the towns like it down in these areas. The problem i have is there is no work in south texas that pays no where even the same as north texas doe's. So to sell house that high is absolutely absurd and makes no sense. Everything he mentioned and i its a matter of time before it all Implodes peroid.

I am from Dallas and have lived in Boerne for the past 6 years and in that short period of time it changed drastically. My family and I just moved to the Marble Falls area and absolutely love it. My takeaway from living in Boerne was that Kendall County is conservative and people don't like paying the taxes of San Antonio, also with all do respect San Antonio is a dump. It seems like nobody respects where they are from and take no pride and keeping it clean, hell you can't even go to the rim without worrying about your truck getting stolen.

Yeah being conservative is a big thing here in boerne if you go in Really anyone garage there is at least one American flag (I’m not joking) 😅 and a lot of come and take it flags but really you just gotta get used to it. It was a lot for me when I first moved but it’s now just American pride 😂

Funny thing is that all the blue state clowns who want to leave their sinking ships will complain about conservative places like Borne and yet want to move there. The same people could just as easily move to south SA, which is as blue as the blue dumps they left and yet they don’t. I wonder why.
