Off and self obsessed is accurate. I’m born and raised BC. And when I left and moved to Alberta? I realized all those people live in their own bubble of ignorance. Just because they think they live in the best place on earth. But only they think like this. No one outside of BC does. Idk why all migrants think it’s the dream to live there. I paid twice as much to live there and they severely lack in resources. Even more than in Alberta and Alberta isn’t perfect either and most their resources are also a joke. There’s more work in Alberta, better shopping. More for resources, better and more reliable transit. Honestly? Migrants are better off here. Even though? We have too many. And not enough housing for everyone. But it’s even less available to people in BC. It’s not a dream. It’s a lie.

Weather is an issue in all of Canada, it’s either cold, or too snowy, or too rainy. You need to pick one of those options. For me, Calgary has the best weather in Canada. And I lived in Vancouver. Culture? Maybe it’s not “artsy” as other cities but this city has identity rooted in western culture. Vancouver felt like it had no soul. Geography? One of the best. It’s really matter of preference. Why would you need multiple big cities around anyway? I can agree about the downtown that it’s not as lively as Vancouver, but it’s changing and Stampede makes this city the most lively for 10 days than probably any city. It’s amazing.

Couple of things I always find get missed in these kinds of videos. 1: No history or historical parts of Calgary. With a very small exception of property, if its over 20 Y\O , bulldoze and start over. 2: Chinook migraines and winter dryness. Dry cracked hands, lips and nosebleeds. 3: No trees. Very few neighborhoods have old mature trees. Most are vinyl and concrete jungles. 4: The 20 ticket cop quotas. Police tend to give out tickets for the simplest of infractions, just to make sure they hit the required quotas per month. 5: In the last few years, very aggressive driving. Seems people from Ontario and BC have brought their driving habits with them. As a neutral though I would say Calgary's transit is actually ok. It you compare to Toronto or Montreal, yeah Calgary transit is poor. But if you compare to Vancouver, Calgary transit is exceptionally good.

In general, I would say the best places for employment in Canada are in Alberta and Ontario. You could find good jobs in every province though. Canada is a super safe country and I've never had to worry about my safety and I've been all over the country. In terms of the climate, British Columbia and Southern Ontario are the most mild in Canada. The maritime provinces don't get as cold as the prairie provinces but they are definitely wetter and can get huge amounts of snow. I personally would pick Calgary over Edmonton, Regina, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, and anything east of them. I really like Vancouver but it's ultra expensive. It actually shocks me that such a huge city is so suburban and has so little going on in terms of arts, culture and entertainment. The only exception is if you’re into outdoor winter sports, which I’m not. If you’re more of an urban person like me, and like going to lounges and parties and museums and beaches and like getting dressed up, then steer well clear of Calgary! There’s nothing glamorous or fabulous about from where Toronto ends to where inner vancouver begins. Vancouver, Montreal and Quebec city are much better options!

I honestly used to hate Calgary and that's why I moved to Vancouver for university back in 2006. I think Calgary has improved quite a bit in the past 10 years or so though. I really like Vancouver but it's just too expensive these days and not the easiest place to work. Toronto is ok, I don't mind it. I think Toronto should have similar prices to Calgary though. I wouldn't consider moving there to pay 1 million for a 400 sq ft studio condo. I think a brand new 600 sq ft condo in Toronto should cost like $250-300k. It's not like Toronto is Honolulu or San Diego, so no reason to pay the kind of money they are going for, but that's just my opinion. I just look at Toronto as a big industrial eastern city so I've always been shocked that people spend a fortune on real estate there. I get why Vancouver is expensive because of the scenery and climate but I think Toronto should be much more reasonable. I've only driven through Montreal once on the way to New Brunswick but it's on my list of places to see. Everyone I know who has been to Montreal says great things about it. I can't stand Quebec politics though (you can also throw in the Toronto Trudeau politics in there too haha)
