Fontana is an amazing family city. The recreation department has won National Awards several years and yes, there's alot of people but we Al's support our local businesses. I have lived in Fontana for 41 years and other than Montclair, the city I grew up in , I wouldn't live anywhere else. I bought my house just on the border of Southridge in 1998 for $142,000. Rig now on Zillow it's listed at $1.1 million dollars. Southridge is an amazing community.

I’m new to the community near Citrus and the 10. First year was hard to give up living closer to LA from Montclair. I’m originally from Dallas, Texas and been living in California since 2014. The temperatures here in the summer are higher than Dallas. The winds are crazy in the winter and during the summer winds start around 5pm-7pm to cope with heat. The winds also help clear out the pollution so you can actually see blue skies and beautiful sunsets in the horizon of surrounding mountains. Several schools near by and when you think about it Fontana is centralized from the Ocean, Dessert and snow in the mountains. The area where I stay is very calm and everyone I had encounter are polite. What brought me here was the cost of the home otherwise I would have been living in Chino Hills. Overall if you just like being in your own space, Fontana is not bad at all just have to cope with winds, heat and a little cold in the winter.

We purchased our Southridge Home Brand New in 1986. Well sort of, it wasn't even built yet. 4 bdrm, 2 bath and 2 car garage. 1,800 sq. ft. for a cash price of $89,999, you can't find that around here anymore. There was very little here in South Fontana at that time (mostly just homes) and we have seen a lot of changes. According to the City Council back then, this was to be the "ELITE" neighborhood with our own Shopping Centers, Police Station, Fire Station, Schools and Parks. The City Council painted quite the pretty picture for us, and it was nice for a while. It took what seemed like forever to get the promised amenities and before that happened they voted to allow low income apartments to be built. The area went downhill from there. We raised our family here and have seen our ups and downs with Gangs, Crime and City officials who at times seem to have forgotten we are here. But still we remain because over all it's not the worst place in So Cal to live .

Today it's almost impossible for people to imagine you could ever buy a home here in So Cal for $89k. Unfortunately though I've heard stories like yours from people in a number of cities now about how plans for the community changed over the years because of changing city leader.

Lived here my whole life, sadly had to move out of my child hood home there, but it wasn’t perfect, kids on my block wore bullet proof vests and sold weed on the corners, and the homeless people plus the tagging and other things weren’t very nice. But my neighbors were nice! And I liked having my back yard right next to Cambria park. Overall it was pretty crazy so I wouldn’t recommend it unless you can handle it.

I lived in Southridge since 1999 Beautiful place it was an escape from the LA life. Along came warehouse warren. 80+ warehouses in like 5 years with no large scale shopping. I was told by Philip (city council member) we cannot compare North and South Fontana because we are different. Seemed a little Belittling and racist to me, and no Businesses wants to deal with South Fontana. While the Crime and homeless are not nearly as bad here than Central and closer to North Fontana. Residents in South Fontana Don't Shop in south Fontana. Well that part he is correct, maybe because we have near to nothing in South Fontana to Shop at. If you are a Trucker or Warehouse Owner you get free passes to break Traffic laws in South Fontana too, like Drive a Fully loaded Simi down Live Oak which is rated for no Trucks over 5 Tons, destroying our homes. Yes Law Suits are in the works.
