Having lived in Madrid for years, I subscribe to every word you say. Thank you so much for this video. I think it is wonderful that you are doing this because a lot of people are unprepared for the country and city/town they are moving to. I love and miss Madrid a lot, but the bureaucracy was the thing that killed me 😭 I hope that the new direction Spain has taken towards digitalisation will help solve these issues. Otherwise Madrid is one of the best cities in Europe, so if anyone is thinking of moving there for work or studies, just give it a go. It is indeed a super open and welcoming place 😊

Thankyou so much for your words Flamdring! We also think that Madrid (the whole Spain really) is going in the right direction towards improving the bureaucracy system, but there's still much work to do in that sense. Other than that, it is true that Madrid is a great city! :)

Had to chuckle at one comment the narrator made here about streets being "dirtier" than say in London..I admit that I live in a small coastal pueblo here and am not familiar with Madrid at all. But here the refuse truck arrives EVERY Morning between say 07:30 and 09:00. and they collect All the refuse..!!You don't get that in London where if a refuse bag might have been torn open by an urban fox and the contents strewn across the pavement, the Refuse collectors will pick up the torn bag and leave the detritus behind. Many is the time in London, when I had to thread my way through Pizza Boxes, rotting vegetables and such on London streets.. Public transport is also much cleaner here in Spain..!! VIVA ESPANA,...!!

Indeed Madrid is also cleaner than most people tend to think, and we do have a great refuse trucks service everyday, but it is true that the mentality of people regarding throwing garbage on the ground is, at the very least, improvable😅. But hey! thanks for that comparison!

When we came to Spain (not Madrid) some years ago we did a lot of things ourselves including registering at the social security, getting electricity, internet and mobile connections and have even changed the internet and mobile phone companies a few times without any issues at all, found it all pretty straight forward.

So nice @joebloggs4191 knowing you did all the formalities by yourselves with no trouble! Sometimes in big cities and very populated suburbs things are not too easy to solve, mainly because we have still a considerable amount of paperwork to do dealing with authorities, however the pandemic has helped a lot in terms of digitalisation. Thank you so much for sharing your experience!

Of course, this is only a generalization. I try to be as punctual as a Brit, and I'm sure there are many like me out there, but we do tend to be less than in other countries 😊

Hi @nat.serrano. Thanks for your comment. I would say that Madrid is, in gerenal, a very welcoming city, although of course there is racism everywhere in some sort. But to make a video about any topic, I think it is important to have the knowledge about the topic you want to talk about. That's why I prefer to leave this kind of issues to the anti-racism content creators. If you speak Spanish, you can have a look at some of them in Madrid and Spain. Hello @diananduwuisi573, Móstoles is a very big suburb located at the southwest of the capital. Over 200k people live there, so you can find literally all kind of areas, from the town center to the coolest urbanizations. In gereral Móstoles is very affordable when compared to other areas. Although I would try avoid certain neighborhoods, it is certainly not a bad place if you're looking into a suburb with goof prices and lots of mid-range jobs offers.
