As a Canadian who lived in Ontario, BC & the North West Territories, I can unequivocally say that YES, the dry winters in Alberta are DEFINITELY better than Ontario or BC winters. I freeze in Ontario with a humid -5 and I feel comfy in Alberta at -15 to -20. THAT'S THE TRUTH!

@@queenkaur8876 Can you rent a room in Canada? In other houses for rent in Canada, rental rooms are available, with shared living and bathroom facilities. Apartments for rent in Canada range from 'bachelor' units, where a single room serves as both the bedroom and living area, to those with multiple bedrooms and separate living areas.

@@PhilMante I love how you couch your whole statement like Red Deer is a place you can go to watch drug deals go down. I have a newsflash for you: there are drugs being sold in EVERY Canadian population center of a 1000 people or more. Your attempt to scandalize Red Deer because you saw a person using drugs there is laughable. How old are you - 95? Or are you a freaking Hutterite or Mormon or born under a rock? Maybe you are a time traveler from the sedate and puritanical 1800's. I'm so sorry you had to witness such degradation and that it has scarred you to the point that you condemn a community of 105,000 people for the actions of...2. PS: Meth, heroin, fentanyl, ketamine are all white powdered drugs that can be snorted too. ALSO: You couldn't get any sleep in your motel? And, how exactly, is that tied to the standard of living in and the typical daily quality of life for residents of Red Deer - you know - the topic of the video? Dude, you are from Chilliwack - it's the Red Deer of BC with 20X the drug issues. Anyway, I hope some day with enough counseling and a good psychologist you can work through the trauma and PTSD of having witnessed the God awful horror of a drug deal in Red Deer, Alberta. I can't imagine the turmoil you must live with even while ensconced in the pure and tempered safety of God's very country where every motel patron slumbers a full 12 hours a night on mattresses of gossamer ...Chilliwack, BC. Seriously, are you a real person? You can't be. You have to be a troll. Painting Red Deer as a drug infested crap hole when you live in Chilliwack is brilliant ironic trolling. 👍

There’s been several other tornado’s touch down here before actually, and there was a devastating tornado in pine lake in 2000 and the hospital where I nursed enacted the disaster plan because so many injuries were done by the pine lake tornado. We in red deer and area are on the edge of our own version on tornado alley. I’ve lived in red deer since 1980! You can find that info out there😅✌️

Really appreciate your video. We're looking at relocating in the spring from Camrose. We moved up here from Calgary to get out of the city but find that were 20-30 years younger than we should be to be here. Also we find camrose very economically stunted compared to places like edmonton, calgary etc. We looked at GP being I grew up in the peace. You wanna talk winter lol! Thought about lethbridge but you definitely need some finances behind you. I'm going through to start a small business and my partner works more retail. We got 2 boys under the age of 3. From your video this sounds awesome. Amenities are close to what we miss living in the city if not mirrored. Looking at rentals in a decent area for April. If it's OK to send you a message to get your input where?? Sorry so long winded.

We are planning on moving to Alberta in about 5 yrs, my spouse will retire age 65. I am 59 and am a retired nurse since age 55 due to health issues (planned since 2018 and applied in 2019, therefore not Covid related retirement), I was on sick leave the last 6 months of my career, I still had 2 1/2 yrs to go on disability for my full pension but was eligible for early retirement with lifetime penalty of 8 % for life, but I did not want to take advantage of the system as I had already planned before getting sick to retire early, I have JRA (Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis) since age 15, I now have OA Osteoarthritis and 4 herniated back disc 1 of them is torn, along with a torn left shoulder and a torn left knee which could not be operated on and I also have cervical stenosis now, hence no longer being able to work as a nurse. I am care giver to my adult autistic stepson as he has the mental age of a 5 yr old stuck in the body of an 34 yr old adult, he totally depends on us, my spouse cuts his nails and hair and beard, etc... So even if retired I am still busy caring for him, but I am able to rest as he is mobile, just needs us to cook for him and serve him and make him walk around at times or he sits there doing nothing and wasting muscles away, I also wake him up and send him to bed as he has no notion of time at all. My spouse did live in Red Deer in his youth and he states my Arthritis would do better there as it is a dryer cold over there then Montreal Qc. We are looking in maybe getting a mobile home, seeing we will both be retired no job search required, so less stress, basically sell or donate most our stuff and move. I am trying to learn as much as I can of Red Deer, as my research was centered with Calgary or Lethbridge, more southern Alberta, in my mind southern = warmer and sunnier lol. I did not snow shoe this yr we had a weird winter, but I did the yr before and loved it, so maybe the snow would get me out more. I would like to find somewhere to walk more also, I used to love nature walks. Since retiring my mobility has improved and I am no longer losing my balance. My spouse would like to move where we could maybe use solar pannels and maybe some forested area, not middle of a huge city life, we are not into restaurants or other stuff, we love the comfort of our quiet home. I know 5 yrs seems far away, but as he stated we might choose to move earlier. Thanks for any information.

What pisses me off about red deer, is that there isn't hardly a single GD straight road! And there are only 5 roads that join up to the #2. There is NO ring road. Highway 11A does not go down to riverside drive. And because of that traffic is heavy and congested.

I grew up in Calgary and left for work in 99. I returned to Alberta from Ontario in 2022 with the intentions of moving back to Calgary but it was crazy busy and for a big savings on home costs chose to move to Penhold, literally 10 mins south of Red Deer. Prices were very attractive for houses and for a town of less then 4k it had almost everything that you would need, even a Timmies lol. The things it doesn't have are just a short drive away, I can get to Costco or Gasoline Alley in 10 mins. As mentioned I grew up in Calgary and was not really familiar with Red Deer or Central Alberta but the idea of a quieter community and city was much more attractive then the bigger cities. I think the biggest issues that I was concerned with would have been Crime and Weather/Hail. Shortly after I relocated to Penhold in 22, there was a bad hail storm that created a lot of chaos for drivers, this happened just south of Penhold but I have not seen or heard of anything come through the area since. Cold is cold where ever you are but being dry here definitely makes it manageable, especially if you enjoy winter activities like skiing, skating, snowmobiling or just being outside enjoying the fresh air and the beauty of winter. During those infrequent extreme cold days I would suggest to people, get a block heater installed on your vehicle if you don't already have one, just makes it easier on them. Crime, I can honestly say I have not seen or heard of anything major. Crime is a bigger issue in the bigger cities as expected. The most I've seen/heard around Penhold is traffic infractions. If coming from Toronto or Vancouver, Alberta is a dream. Expect more issues in the bigger cities, more people more problems. Red Deer (Central Alberta) is right in the middle of both big cities in Alberta and only short 1.5 hour drive from each and without any of the major traffic grids, traffic moves very well. Sorry long winded here, the only other thing I would like to mention is Trucks, lots of trucks and cracked windshields, expect to replace your windshield every year. Gravel on the roads get thrown at windshields from the trucks but on a positive note, it's cheaper to get a windshield replaced here. Thanks for the great video, very accurate from my perspective.

I see things have changed big time in the last year so my bad, and covid must have put some ppl in serious debt forcing them to close, another factor covid did is make ppl between 18 and 40 like street drugs better then nightclubs. There's still Bo's tho and they sell out Canadian and American Rap shows all the time and it's one he of a crazy and big party when shows are in RD, and Hybrid 26. X Static and the Gents Club are definately Nightclubs they just cater to a different crowd, but loud music, dancing, and neon lights make them nightclubs. Sucks the Hideout wasn't better managed because it was a good time In the eqrly to mid 2010s. I knew Bellinis Billy Bobs, the Saloon, and the Lotus were shutting down and that was a major place for RDC College kids along with the bar across called the something "City", and the Blarney Stone use to be in lethnridge and I loved thar place but they moved to RD and now they closed lol Original Joe's & Murphs & Browns arent night clubs but are good Nightspots & Bars you can casually party all night at, same with the Great Canadian Brewhouse if it's still there? And the Red Deer Casino use to be a busy Popular good Nightspot along with Cash Casino prior to Covid. I haven't been to RD in a year I just figured it was the same, from age 18-25 or 2008-2015 RD was literally me and my buddies favorite party city because there were always a mix of Calgary and Edmonton people along with Red Deer folks and partiers from the surrounding areas lol it hrew from a nightclub&stripper Hotspot to an even bigger city with not much to do. Shame. Red Deer was my favorite mid-sized city followed by Med Hat.

I've lived in Alberta for 50+ years. Came from Ottawa. I spent all of the 70's in Edmonton and the last 40+ years in Calgary. If I could live ANYWHERE in Alberta I would live, obviously, in Banff, Jasper, or Waterton but seeing as they are national parks it is too difficult to take up residence/work there. So my number one choice will always be Medicine Hat. Beautiful geography, blistering hot in the summer, and with most of the amenities you'd find in suburban Calgary or Edmonton. Lethbridge would be my second choice for many of the same reasons but also the proximity to Montana where I love to visit and do business. I have no interest in central or northern Alberta. Once you have southern Alberta in your blood nothing else measures up. We have the Rockies, the Badlands, foothills Crow's Nest Pass and best of all...winter chinooks.

Nice to see someone NOT bashing Red Deer, I would say we have a mix of small town and big city vides here, however I will concur on the transit system being terrible(don't even get me started on rent prices), overall thou Red Deer is a pretty good city after 15 years being here I rather enjoy it.

I went to the police station in Red Deer this week to report a broken in business downtown the police station doors were locked with a notice on their doors to report the crime online so I agree pathetic.I did phone in the break in. A few days later I saw a dumpster smoking next to same business but someone said already reported it.I heard fire trucks coming.

He was addressing the weather in the area, specifically tornados. He said we have only had the 2...the one in Didsbury & the one in Edmonton...leaving out the very biggest one in THIS area. Did you not watch, or listen, to that part of the video? That is why people are mentioning Pine Lake tornado although it was NOT DIRECTLY ABOUT RED DEER...🤷

Alberta is conservative but the bigger cities are liberal. This mayor and his people are teetering toward wokeism. We can see that with allowing the homeless to do whatever. That is what I despise.

Red Deer has some nice features, like the dog parks and the river. However, I found it to be a racist town, which made it hard to make friends or socialize. This is no longer an issue for me. Once, I was warned not to walk by a group of protesters because, as a minority, I might be attacked by them

What i have noticed very shortly after moving here is that there are alot of Karen's. Why does living my life bother u? Unbelievably, get out of my life and go live your own, nasty people. I moved last year from a big city and also noticed the mentality is alittle behind the times. Sure smaller town out in the boonies so what do u expect. I grew up in rural area, moved to smaller city and wam bam eye opener, rural areas are very far behind the times!! If u are looking to downsize from a big city but still want some of the bigger city life, u won't find it here. Slim pickings.

This video makes Red Deer seem so much better than it actually is. The schools and buses do not sit down for -30. Life is always back to normal until the low -40s to -50s. The roads are very rarely maintained unless you live in one of the few wealthy communities. BC climate is much better winter unless you live in the northern part of the province in which case it’s the same as Alberta just slightly more expensive but way more outdoors/adventuring to do. Ontario is no where near as bad an Alberta for weather aside from some of the ice storms (which is like some of the AB springs. A lot of this video is misinformation just to bolster a Real Estate agenda. Not that he’s blatantly lying because he’s just expressing an opinion and some things are true “on paper” but to actually live there, you will find out quick how miserable of a city Red Deer is. Calgary is the only reasonably nice city in AB and maybe Edmonton. But if you’re in BC and are still getting by, BC is superior. People move from BC and a few years later regret it all. People move from Ontario and tell themselves “it’s cheaper to live here” but are still depressed by the emptiness of the prairies and the oilfield culture there. If you can stay in BC or Ontario, then you will be far happier there. Alberta has mountains and lake on the BC Boarder but the province itself is just mud, empty farmland, narcotics and organized crime problems, a shocking amount of racism, and homophobia and worst of all is people are trying to make a profit by selling it to you. Don’t fall for it. Where there’s a will there’s a way and you will be happier in Beautiful BC, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Cape Breton, Newfoundland or almost anywhere else in the country other than the northern or prairie provinces. (If you’re a wilderness survivalist or love the outdoors then New Brunswick, Northern BC or Northern Ontario are far better)
