I keep an old tooth brush for the window rubbers. I find they work better and a lot quicker than any of my detailing brushes i've tried! Especially if moss or even lichen is trying to take hold.

I've seen a few folk talk about this but they tend to it at the wash stage, after the cars washed, prior to rinsing it off as it reduces the risk of scratches

Interesting video thanks. Which old school paste wax do you think is the best?

APC is very good for this ( and for removing sun cream residue from interior trim)

I use algae /mould removal, Cllit Bang spray after cleaning ! 😉

Not sure that’s a good idea as they contain bleach and will damage the rubber.

Is an APC the same as a citrus pre wash?

Extremely similar yeah

What sponge were you using in the video?

Sponge? Where did you see a sponge? I used a microfibre cloth to apply the dressing wrapped around my fingers

A little polish will help... Or try Dodo Juice Motley Blu (I think that's the name for it), it's a dedicated metal polish/cleaner. I use it on the roof rails on my car

Search: Autosol 1910 Chromed Plastic Polish if it's not real chrome
@dappergent94223 ай бұрын
Autosol or any metal polish, however, be prepared to eat your spinach first as it's not a two-min job. You will also need to mask off any rubber areas with masking tape so the polish won't mark them.

I use a toothbrush for this job. I mainly get it on my car that’s a weekend toy instead of my daily driver.

Any comcerns with marring from a stiff boar's hair brush, Matt?
@TheDetailingSpace4 ай бұрын
Tbh, this is aimed at beginners... So that'd be the least of their concerns... But assuming you've corrected your paint etc, I'd assume you'd be the kind of person who wouldn't let it get to this stage anyway (if that makes sense)
@decker03734 ай бұрын
@TheDetailingSpace it makes perfect sense, thank you, Matt.

It shouldn't do... Try it diluted first at a 10:1 mix

@@TheDetailingSpace With the greatest respect, APC is at best a wax stripper and I wouldn't risk diluting it 10-1
