I payed $600 for my beta, but it also came with a 202 cab and the footswitch with all the knobs in tact and beautiful condition. Was searching all summer for it, but when one finally popped up on facebook i hopped on it immediately. Had some problems with it but after some servicing i can happily say it's my favorite amp of all time! Thanks for the video!

I can’t remember the last time I have seen one of these under $750 in any kind of playable condition, it’s been a few years. Definitely cool amps that I enjoy, but the hype train has killed the prices worse than the AOR (which is actually kinda worth it, it was just a bargain before). I’m much more inclined to stick with what I’m doing now when I want that sound, running a Hilbish Sol Invictus pre-amp into the loop of my Orange Super Crush.

I have one of these, just got a custom headshell for it. The proper way to RUNN this amp is with all EQ knobs all the way up, gain and reverb to taste. Throw a rat or a BAT Pharaoh in front and call it a day.

Although most would know the reverb is completely useless … and wouldn’t even bother with it. Just use a pedal for reverb.

I paid like $550 for my Sunn Beta lead used! - I basically did the same thing you did , and took it to my amp tech to inspect! - mine plays and sounds great! - I bought mine about five years ago, although!

Yeah it’s not a bad amp at all if you could find it for the right price . Recent listings have been extremely high . Which to me isn’t worth it . But if you find one for the right price it’s a full send .

I got one on FB marketplace with a matching 412 for $600 locally. I probably would have gone up to $800 for the head and cab. It’s a cool amp but it’s not worth $1k imho. Hilbish makes great heads/racks/pedals if you want a reliable beta lead.

Saw the thumbnail and stopped in to preemptively say "real." Does anyone know if the Sunn cabs are actually shipping out? They say 4 week build time but I haven't heard of anyone getting one.

Not sure on the cabinets . I gave up on that new company a long time ago lol . All I know is it always seems like there is delays with the new company. Along with lack of communication to the customer .

Best results I've had is going off of Reverb going through Sunn Official site absolutely blows no communication there services suck & as you've said 4 week build time which is absolute BS I've gotten a model T off there website took almost a month to just ship the damn thing to ending up getting lost contacted there main office & no one could be bothered to help took me almost 4 months to get a refund nothing but attitude & problems with there customer support found the same model off of Reverb for a fraction of the original selling price

Acoustic control 230 rules. 140 is sick with an eq pedal. Old Randall rg-80 and rg100 are great too.

@@in.der.welt.sein. Jerry Only of The Misfits I think used anywhere from 3 to 5 Acoustic 370 heads plus an SVT and a wall of 8x10s and I think even a folded horn cab? The cabs may have been acoustic too but they had been customized heavily. But needless to say I love their sound 😂

I love the Sunn mojo but If I’m gunning for that CMOS sound I’m buying a Darkglass and throwing a graphic eq behind it. I haven’t been arrested for using it on guitar yet

@@FuzzedDrones yeah, not the guitar center reissues. But I've really enjoyed the 140, 220, 230, g60t, g100t and then I've also used the 320, which is a bass amp, but it also sounds sick for guitar. The 370 and 320 are definitely some of the sweetest bass amps ever made. I liked them a million times more than any of the sunn concert bass amps I had, and I got them way cheaper.

The Hilbish amps go for $800, and the SNK solid state models-which sound awesome-are $1,000. I’d definitely grab one or more of those before considering a used Beta Lead. Also, I don’t understand why more people aren’t looking at Ceriatone’s version of the Model T. They’re boutique-quality, hand-wired amps and will be delivered to your door in about a month for under $2,000. Why wait for a new Model T for $3,000+, when you can order a Ceriatone today? If anyone is brand-nervous, they could even order just the chassis and have a fake Sunn-style head shell built for it. But that would be lame.

Never played anything from either SNK or Hilbish . Hilbish I’ve heard great things about for sure . SNK I really don’t know anything which I feel I should since he works out of Fuchs shop. Which is maybe 25 minutes from me . As far as the Ceriatone I think people are just a bit nervous to drop that type of money . Especially since there really isn’t anything on them . Which I don’t blame them . I’d hate to spend 2k on an amp I’d be disappointed with .

@@FuzzedDrones Sorry, I missed this reply! I just wanted to add that I took the plunge on a Ceriatone Model T clone and don’t regret it at all. In fact, I happily recommend them to one and all 😇 I haven’t compared mine with a real one, but my amp tech said it sounded spot on-if a tad dark-to his ears. I played around with the preamp tubes and am feeling good about it now. It loves every pedal I throw at it. It’s loud as could be. Buffered loop. Line out. Custom purple tolex head. Important note Hilbish have the preamp clone … not the actual Beta Lead clone. So you would require a power amp to follow up. King Buzzo from Melvin’s uses one or two …

I live in Canada and never see Sunn amps period. Maybe a Model T once a year in certain Gear groups but never the beta. I managed to find a Sunn SL260, 60 watts, solid state, sounds good but has no drive almost. It’s ok and in good condition but there’s nothing special about it. I’m going to stick with Hiwatt, orange, and finding the odd vintage Peavey and Traynor amps. Maybe some weird beater Garnett’s too.

To be honest this amp sounds like shit as hell and with a cheap Peavey combo I can create the same tone. The mojo of this amp is more buzzing in the market than the great tone you can create with it. This comment is not valid for the tube amps from Sunn.
