Completely agreed. My r5 1600 + 3060ti combo was having 150 fps on woods and 70 on customs. This game drinks that cpu juice like water.

i just watched you vram/street settings video and was expecting the worst build.. this is actually a good build for tarkov. well done. only thing i wouldn't do is buying the cpu cooler because it comes with a stock cooler as you said, and it's actually fine.

Yeah, the only reason I included that was for the drop-in upgrade in the future, but the stock cooler works on that chip fine. Also have a *little* faith in me! I get stuff right sometimes lol

I partnered my 5800X3D to a 7800 XT, streets fps is now playable as hell! I'm gonna wait what the 4070 Ti refresh is capable of to see if I need to go back to nvidia.

Nothing matters get a ryzen x3d DO NOT GO INTEL. 3d cache is the only thing that will up your performance. AM5 literally runs worse than AM4 if it isn't an x3d chip (by a considerable margin im talking 40-50 frame difference).

I'm not an AMD shill.... *but* AM5 can get close to the performance of the 5800x3d in most titles (and I mean the cacheless versions) but yeah, the cache absolutely melts this game and easily gets to and surpasses high-end intel chips. Definitely agree with this take, x3d is the way.

@@marcuszettergren8885 It's not faster though. It's significantly worse than the x3d chips on the 1% lows. The 1% lows are the frame drops you are gonna feel a lot more than 5fps higher averages. On streets the 1% lows are as much as 30-40fps higher on a 7800x3d than the intel chips. That results in a far more stable frametime experience which is flat out far superior to having slightly higher averages that bounce up and down by as much as 50-60fps.

Funny how I picked the exact same CPU (R5 7600) for my recent build. Together with 32gb of ram and a 3060 Ti I get pretty consistent 110-120 fps on most maps and about 80-100 fps on streets with occasional dips into the 70s.

yeah theyre counting on people thinking that ram speed still matters. x3d chips dont care about ram at all, all am5 chips that aren't x3d still need to communicate with the ram, ddr5 or not. Once you bump up to 1440p there is quite literally almost zero difference between the 5800x3d and 7800x3d.@@mosin9349

I have a ryzen 5 5600x and a 3060 ti tarkov is my main game but I built this pc about 2 years ago for 1440p gaming for all games lol, but I agree I can’t stress enough how much the cpu matters, the cpu gets utilized hard in Tarkov, and ram I used run 16gb ddr4 but streets especially made me upgrade and to 32gb of ddr4 and using msi after burn to see ram usage sometimes even on ground zero my pc will use 22gb of ram. On street it sucks all 32gbs at 1440p high preset I’ll get 80-110 fps depending on the map in most I’ll get 90 outside and 103ish on average inside . (With dlss quality on)

You'll definitely see a great boost jumping to the 5800x3d whenever you can spare the cash. If tarkov is your main game, its the no-brainer best in slot chip for that board.

If order to get more frames with that build, I'd highly recommend upgrading your CPU and platform before the GPU. If that CPU is the bottleneck (which it most likely is) you will not get any performance boost via a GPU upgrade.

If you want to be able to upgrade in the future, you could go for the complete platform upgrade, but the 5800x3d is hard to beat in terms of value as then you can just plop in into your board. AM5 will be upgradable again in the long term, but the 5800x3d will give you more performance with less hassle. (Also if you go with the 7800x3d you will get class-leading performance too, keep that in mind.)

I'm helping a friend upgrade/build a new pc. He is 100% going with the 7800x3d. He does stream on twitch regularly...That being said do you think the 4070 will still allow for good fps while streaming or would it be worth upgrading to a 4080 or higher?

I am thinking about buying new pc, something very similar to the one you showed with the amd 7 7800x3d. I have 3060 ti in my current build and I am not sure if I want to spend money on some newer card or keep my 3060ti. Do you think that the game will run good with this gpu cpu combo? Or will the 3060ti be bottlenecking? I am okay with running the game on low/mid settings, 1080p, but I would love to play streets on better frames ~90 stable.

At 1080p, the 3060 Ti at minimal settings should be no trouble. that CPU combined with that GPU should absolutely tear this game apart performance-wise!

Curious when you say AT LEAST 32 gigs of ram, you later say you would NOT recommend going to 64... So if 32gb is the *minimum* why would you advise against going up to 64gb?

Sorry, bad wording on my part. I recommend 32. There *are* actually some 24gb sticks if you want to have 48 gb of RAM though haha. 64 GB of ram in Tarkov should seldom get past the halfway mark unless you're running high textures and NEVER using Auto RAM Cleaner with a GPU that has, say, 8 GB of VRAM.

I figured more would be better but I know with computer specs and game demands it can get intricate. I'm looking to make a Tarkov-focused PC so if 48gb will be better for $50 more it may be worth it, unless the performance return is minimal

@@nawlfr My suggestion is 32gb as you likely wont hit that cap on most maps ever. RAM capacity isn't a problem until it is. Say for instance 128 gb of RAM will give you no tangible performance improvement over 16gb of RAM unless you hit that cap. Hitting that cap is what decreases performance, hence why people have now stretched to 32gb. The main reason people are hitting that cap (if you ever see anyone hit it) is due to background apps. not using Automatic RAM Cleaner in game, or using way too high of a texture quality in game than their VRAM can take. Hope this helps :)

Streets has such a huge difference in fps depending on where your at my fps with a rx6750xt and 5700x 32g ram my fps go from 50- 120 fps depending on where I am and where I am looking on streets . Also yes everybody has frame drops when scoped in I would say I dropp about 50% of frames when scoped but that's limited by just how the game engine works if I'm not mistaken

Can ram speed be a bottleneck for Tarkov? I have a 5900x and a 4070ti, and 32gb of ddr4 4000mhz cl19. My wife has the same CPU and a 3080ti and slower RAM and gets 15-20 FPS more than me on streets (I sit at about 55-70 while hers is 65-88 FPS) is it possible that my RAM is making my performance unstable? Also, I don’t really lose FPS when I turn my graphics up.

You need to make sure to test them in the exact same scenario to see a difference. It could be a diminishing returns thing with the ram, but I doubt it. Also, settings likely have little effect due to you guys being CPU-bound. @@klemintime1452 I should’ve mentioned that I noticed this difference when we’re side-by-side on the map with the same settings. The only one she has different is “use only physical cores” enabled. But to my knowledge, that would decrease my performance? I’ve even done a factory reset on my PC and overclocked my cpu. I’d normally just discount it as silicone lottery but 20 FPS is a huge difference. Could disabling hyperthreading actually help?

Definitely a solid starter pairing as you can upgrade the CPU down the line. I believe Pyurologie has benchmarked Tarkov on that CPU so you'll be able to see how that runs on intense maps like streets 👍

That CPU (in an ideal scenario) will hit over 60 FPS most of the time on streets, even in more demanding areas (I'd expect it to be normally 65-75 FPS). Obviously that depends on the settings too, but having that faster memory on a modern architecture really helps it keep up. Just know prices have shifted a little bit too, so feel free to look around for better deals :)

I had the same experience. I have a 13600k now and its a decent bit better, but still can get close to the 60 fps threshold. AMD just blows us out of the water without extreme tinkering on our part.

I actually recently bought a used RX 6800 and running it with a 5600X I am getting a GPU bottleneck. Does that seem right? I am on 1440p with most settings on low except for high textures and TAA High. From what I read online I expected to still be CPU bottlenecked, but maybe being on 1440p is making a bigger difference than I thought?

Good buy, but that seems fairly close to correct depending on what map you're on. If you're on streets, I wouldnt expect that. But woods, customs, or shoreline? Oh yeah, probably.

You gotta build really far up the chain to hit stuff like that on the more intensive maps- minimum parts like the 7800x3d and 13900k/14900k are required (for mainly streets). GPU doesn't have to be crazy, a 4070 or 7800xt should be able to hold that at the right settings.

If you are getting those numbers through task manager, its incorrect. For some reason it sometimes fails to properly collect the values for Tarkov, and MSI afterburner or HWInfo actually reports the usage is much higher.
