Best advice: don’t ever attend a timeshare meeting.
@jdstep974 жыл бұрын
Ronald Rollins - That is the best advice. But I attended a timeshare meeting once. I was in my 20s and ready to get out to the beach. No way in h*ll was I going to get stuck in a contract and have that on my mind while trying to enjoy myself at the beach. So I did not sign up. Did not allow my significant other to sign. We had to go because that was part of us getting our discount. We sat there nice and disinterested. Other than that half day wasted, we actually had a good time. If that happened now, though, in my middle-aged, I'd not have wasted that half day. I'd get up and dare anyone to detain me, or my significant other. False-imprisonment I'd yell; forget the discount. With age, the patience seems to diminish, unless with the kids.

Some words of wisdom, and this isn't just for timeshares: Anytime a salesman tells you you have to sign a contract right now or the deal goes away, no taking time to think it over, no time to crunch the numbers, no sleeping on it, then you WALK AWAY! and never look back. No matter how good the deal sounds, the stipulation that it has to be signed right then and there means you are being scammed and it should automatically change the conversation to "Nope. We are 1/10th owners of a beach house. We've had it for 20 years and we absolutely love it. Our family LOVES going to our beach house every summer for vacation. We get use of the house 5 weeks a year. We have regular meetings with the other 9 owners and we all work together to make decisions on maintenance and repairs. This isn't a timeshare in the traditional sense. It's just a group of 10 people that each bought 1/10th of a house. We have a local CPA that helps us with financial management and paying the bills every month. We have a deed and we can resell our share if we want. Over the years I think there have been like 2 or 3 shares that have been sold to new owners. Overall we have so enjoyed this arrangement. I wonder if Dave would call this an evil timeshare.

There are benefits of credit cards whether you want to agree with it or not, and it’s perfectly possible to get rewarded for buying things you’d be buying anyway--which includes rent, utilities, gasoline, phone bill, groceries, etc. There are other benefits as well which include rental car coverage, 0% APR deals from opening new cards, more protection of your money compared to a debit, and others.

Dave is hilarious in this vid. Got it, timeshare is bad and like a plague to be avoided. Thank you

I would never suggest any one but a timeshare but I love to rent timeshares. I like the space and having laundry and kitchen facilities when I vacation. I also think I they are generally cleaner and have better service than air b b and b. Just my preference. You can rent them on media and sites like that.

Regarding lottery tickets-----if you spend a small amount on a regular basis - in my case, no more than $5 a week I don't see them as a big problem. However, some people are spending large amounts of their paychecks so that it is a problem.

I don’t know how the salespeople who sell timeshares sleep at night. I used to sell new cars and I always felt bad because I knew that I was helping someone go into debt :(

Dave needs a bottle of Pepcid AC on hand just in case he gets on the timeshare subject... lol... Timeshares are the biggest waste of peoples money I'm surprised people are still fooled by it!
