Don't replace VW air pump before watching 5-cyl p2432

First , disconnect the hose where it meets the egr valve and on a cold engine start the car the check to see if air is blowing out of the hose, this will tell you the blower motor is working and then check for cracks on the hose and then check the egr valve itself if it’s opening or closing , you can look the hole if it’s moved up or down .. if all those work then it might be the sensor

Does anyone on here know where the sensor is on an 07 bug convert? I see the hose/pipe from the air pump (under the lt fender) to where it connects to the metal valve/unit near the head. There is no sensor in that hose/pipe. The air pump tests good but does not run when connected to the wire harness and I do a cold start.

If it'd the same engine code as he stated in the video then it is. This should be the same for all 6th generation Jetta. I have a 5th generation (2009) and it's the same location.

i took my air intake out and i must have ripped the hose out of the sensor that it connects to. so its connected to the intake but not the pump. i cannot find where this thing connects or where that sensor is that you replaced. i cannot see a place on the pump where this would connect. the only code i get is map

My 2011 VW Jetta SE has this same code and it tends to stall when starting up or when at low velocities. Could this secondary pressure sensor be responsible for the stalling?

My daughters 2011 jetta SE generated an engine code P0491 today. which says its the secondary air injection pump. She said she had noticed when trying to take off the RPMs would rev up but the car would only do about 10 mph before it finally would catch up. Also she noticed it felt like it wanted to stall. Wondering did you resolve our issue and what did it end up being?

@@waltw918 I ended up replacing the sensor which actually allowed another diagnostic code to appear. In the end, the problem for my car had to do with a faulty crank shaft position sensor. When I replaced that crank shaft position sensor, the car stopped stalling and has worked perfectly ever since. Hope this helps.

If I install a aftermarket cold air intake that doesn’t come with a place to reinstall the air injection hose what I can do ? Do I have find a way and connect it back or I can leave hanging in there? Oba: I have a cat delete downpipe and straight pipe all the way back..

and from where??? Like any part store sorry going through this on a new used car I just bought spent almost a grand on trying to get it good started off with a code for camshaft positioning sensor, changed that ran ok for 2 days epc light came back on put it in limp mode took it to a vw mechanic he said its the throttle body and air intake manifold, paid him to fix those got it home 3 days later check engine light comes on he says to change all spark plugs and ignition coils, paid for that then 3 days later check engine light comes on got a code for misfire in cylinder 3 so he said it's the fuel injector in cylinder 3 paid for that took it home ran fine for a week now epc light is back on now throwing this code do I attempt to change the map sensor and see what that does??? I'm at my witts end with this damn car I can't afford to keep taking it to a mechanic every week and I've only had this car for a little over a month now ran perfectly when I took it for a test drive no Dash lights on no signs any of this was going to go wrong and bought as-is of course

Sounds like you have an oil leak at the vacuum pump. Typical VW 2.5L problem

​@JoshDisher I was able to replace the gasket in my vacuum pump. Wasn't that hard just be careful with the hoses around the area of the pump.

P0491 code definition This is the OBD-II code for Secondary Air Injection System Insufficient Flow Bank 1, indicating a problem on the side of the engine which contains cylinder #1. ALWAYS TO CHANGE MY PUMP?

No, that code does not indicate that you always replace the pump. More likely is a broken hose, other possibilities include the combi valve, breather air filter, or some other secondary air injection system component.
