Too late , been selling postcards for years, I do prefer selling photos though, it amazes me how often I sell a random photo that most people would never list, I mean a random tree in a suburban backyard just sold, I didn't know the city, didn't know the exact year, or what kind of tree it was but someone wanted to pay 9.95 plus shipping. Certainly pros and cons to it, but the pros outweigh the cons in my mind. Pros, Easy to list, ship, inventory and source and very low returns, like zero. Cons, less home runs, some very slow to sell, some will never sell. But overall I like it better than my old way of searching for hours looking for diamonds in the rough, testing, cleaning, researching price, storing big items, shipping them, dealing with more returns, death pile growth. I'm still an everything seller but out of my 5500 items 90% are postcards, photos and pins.

I agree with you about postcards , they are not for everyone, and most maybe 90% are common cards that sell for $5 or less. however I have chosen a different approach after watching this one seller on KZbin. He has approx. 22,000 Postcards and sells about 20 per day and his gross monthly is about $8-9000 and it is not because he has all high dollar cards, but maybe a 4 or 5 higher dollar amount cards everyday and yes you have to do research and it does take 2-4 minutes per card. Anyway I find them a great addition to the Hot Wheels and other Diecast Cars I sell.

I was just given a big collection of one artist’s postcards all stored carefully in a collectors flip book. They have a good selling history so I’m going to sell them, possibly in small lots.

The automation and optimization is the fun part.

Hey Blake. Quick Question: I created something similar (I think). Have a front-end VBA Form where I manually enter the details and the Ouput is the Postcard Upload Form in CSV format. My problem is I can't automate inserting the photo URLs separated by the 'pipe' symbol. I can concatenate URL1 with pipe with URL2 but can't automate grabbing the URLs of front and back. I'm using Google Photos Shared Folder to host the Pics. So, without givi g all your secrets away, can you share where/how you host the postcard photos and grab their URLs? Thanks!
@otisthebeef3142Ай бұрын
Just realized you are using Python to generate your Upload CSV, but still curious where/how you host your postcard images to grab their URLs if you wouldn't mind sharing that info. Thanks!

I use google as well. It’s several very complicated programs that automate the uploading and retrieval.
@otisthebeef3142Ай бұрын
@@WBKnoblock Thanks, Blake. I understand that. I'm a novice Python guy and I can make a program that generates the CSV. I think my question was more: Are you somehow parsing the image scans in order to load the proper data fields? Or do you save your scans into a very well defined folder structure first and then use the folder 'path' to load the data? More of a concept question, I guess. Thanks!
@WBKnoblockАй бұрын
@@otisthebeef3142 both- I have them saved with a specific file structure that is then used to organize them in my google cloud storage and then recall them with the correct info for the listing based on that file structure. But that was my third or fourth iteration of the program- initially, I was just uploading pre-filled folders, however that was causing a lot of issues with scans being skipped (no clue why, but it was happening consistently enough to have to engineer a workaround). Now every image upload is its own trackable process in my upload program and the entire list of files is checked against the directory contents.

Phenomenal! Thank you for explaining that! Very cool process and certainly better than listing postcards one at a time! Thank you!

How did you end up selling postcards? (I’m a “repeat buyer” from your store, including postcards! I bought one from you that was from a place in my wife and mine dating history and used it as a wedding anniversary card)
