Took a chance and preordered it. I loved Kena, and this looked like a cross between Kena and Fenyx Rising, so I went all-in. I usually don't, but the game looks even better than I expected! 60 enemy types, in depth skills, 6 weapons that vary attacks, elemental attacks, beautiful looking?? This is way batter than I thought, even from the initial trailer. I agree with you on those minotaur. Amazing! I am looking forward to it quite a lot now!

@@ericsaari2901 I tried the demo. I really liked the art style and the protagonist design. I just wish they had worked a little bit on animations and feel of the combat. When you dodge or swing a sword in something like Elden Ring or Dark souls despite Souls being older games there is a feel to it. It doesn't feel weightless. They went the dark souls route for combat pretty much but failed to capture the essence of souls like combat.

Thanks for great review. Hadn't heard of this game before I came across your video but I am sucker for a good "souls-like", I am a big fan of the Immortals Fenyx Rising visuals. Like you I do love me a god red-haired protagonist(Aloy from the Horizon gamers) and I read that the game has some serious ramifications to how the story unfolds based off your actions. Plus it is only $10 dollars on Steam thanks to regional pricing. Grabbed it and installing now.

I'm intrigued.. it looks like a cartoon version of assassins creed odyssey. And I'm so glad it hasn't got that annoying reticle dot on the enemies that souls like ones have. I hate that This actually looks quite fun. Like Kena but not quite as sharp animation But I don't know if this will look better on my ps5 cos alot of KZbin videos are low resolution by comparison

Game is everything I wanted. After the weekend of playing I have to say it didn't let me down at all, I hope there's dlc afterwards and a sequel, combat is so fluid the way you can use your main and secondary together, being able to block while countering with the bracers or daggers is sooo good. The lore doesn't feel Nordic, or greek myth methodical at all, feels otherworldly if I were to say anything. I'll be grabbing the physical copy as well just to support these devs, I hope they keep going this is my goty thus far.

Looks like a Dark Souls Fenyx Rising with no jump button which doesn't make sense because the combat is superhuman and the little floating orb is gonna drive me crazy because it's a distraction, but the game is only 35 bucks so I'ma download it tonight and check it out.

What sort of map/waypoint/fast travel system does Asterigos use?

No map to speak of. There are waypoints that act essentially like bonfires. You can use a consumable item to instantly return to the hub area, and a different consumable to return to your most recently visited waypoint. It's not the most convenient system, but as you progress through areas, you open up shortcuts that make backtracking much simpler. Edit: eventually you can teleport directly between waypoints. Sorry, wasn't aware of this when I initially replied!

There is a map in the hub are, but it really is just a layout of every region of the world and how they connect. Almost like concept art, but you get a sense of how big the world is. You look at it every time Minerva gives you a new quest and you have to interact with the war table with mission briefings. I actually like the concept.

I think there's a lot of "it isn't like Dark Souls" going on in this game's reception, and I feel that does it a great injustice. Yeah, it's not as balls-hard as Dark Souls. Yeah, it's not as dark as Dark Souls. Yeah, it doesn't have its lore in the item descriptions. _So what?_ Didn't everyone complain Soulslikes ape Dark Souls too much and never do their own thing - but then this game does its own thing, and suddenly "It'S nOt ExAcTlY lIkE dArK sOuLs, BoOoOo"?
