This game is basically the perfect Soul-lite. Soul-ish enough to challenge but not enough to induce rage quit. The only problem is the lack of check points.

I am finding it a very nice medium. And I will agree that the checkpoints seem few and far between. But the world looks amazing and the gameplay is generally just fun.

I think not having many checkpoints is good for the experience. Too many and you don’t care if dying or not. Especially since you don’t loose all your stardust.

Thanks. I almost didn't' include it, but it was the highlight of my time in the game and I was thoroughly terrified so I decided to through it in. Not really ever sure what is best for review vids since obviously you don't want spoilers but you want to show of the fun stuff.

Sounds like a more melee/magic focused Mass Effect 1. Combat wasn't super fast in that game and dialogue a plenty. Thanks for talking about this game, I've been looking for something new to play and going to pick it up.

Awesome. Glad you saw this and that it was to your liking. I think the boss fights are pretty awesome. Especially when you get further into the game and get to harder content.

@@SheenShots Just started exploring Black Streets and loving the fluidity of Daggers and Spear combo. The two bosses I've fought so far are the highlights of the game thus far, which is nice. The trickle of story beats keeps me going too.

I really didn't get the dagger when I tried them briefly, but I will say spear is fantastic. I am thinking of switching from the sword to that actually. Blocking uses too much stamina against larger attacks anyway. Love the idea of a consistent counter and being able to attack with melee with better range.

@@SheenShots I agree! Countering is so much fun and useful. I initially picked the daggers because I can instantly do a quick follow up attack after my spear combo. Nothing like being able to finish off an enemy I just -barely- killed.

Oh god, if you were there from release, they were actually worse 😂. The faces all had this gritty, over sharpened look to them that made all the women look like they had mustaches and the male faces all had horrific rashes and acne 😬. Man it was bad. It’s weird to say it’s so much better now, but it really is

It’s a good game. If AI wasn’t so stupid at times and would pressure me but more I think it would be great. Challenge mode is a bit too much for newcomers I think and the mid difficulty is a bit too weak. With stronger AI that could be shifted to being right. But I don’t see an update coming anymore.

Very good game. The only thing that truly bothered me is what you don't know when you've completed a quest.

Its a pretty enjoyable mechanic. There are a lot of combinations and it makes combat flow very well.

I dont think personally that "souls like" is a good referense here for this game. Theres multiple points that the review makes comparisons, and then describes the games features lacking in those. I dont think it is even ment to be like a "souls like" game, which makes these comparisons kind of weird. Theres plenty of explained story, the inventory acquisition works differently, healing items and resting - all seem to be designed to be different in the first place. Otherwise, the review brings out good points and gives good descriptions of the game! So good video nontheless, made me buy the game lol😎

I actually agree with you. This game tries to do its own thing rather than simply copying the souls games. I did choose to compare the two because it seemed like it was being looked at with a souls like context and there definitely are quite a few similarities. It mostly felt like the most relatable comparison tbh. Glad you enjoyed the review! I have thoroughly enjoyed the story so far and the art style is very appealing. I honestly have to say that is my favorite part of the game rn.

I realized later that this comment of mine came from the sword and shield. It seems to swing very slow at times but turns out this is because I was not using the weapon switch combos enough. After I fixed that the combat has been flowing much better.
