If it interests you then yeah definitely go for it! But if you wanna dip your toes in some other good modern JRPGs first then Dragon Quest 11, Persona 4 Golden, Final Fantasy 7 remake, and Tales of Arise are other great places to jump into the genre 😄

This game has thoroughly impressed me. I said the same thing when it comes to the “fantasy persona” perspective because obviously it does have many familiar mechanics that Persona has made their own for years. However, there is so much iteration and creativity here that sets it apart from what Persona has offered. My favorite thing that I’ve experienced so far is the job system here where Archetypes can be mixed and matched rather than being locked to specific characters. Additionally, as a big story fanatic, the story here is already extremely compelling in its intro with very tight writing. An intro that has griped me faster than any Persona intro I’ve experienced, so hopefully, this quality will continue throughout the rest of the game.

Ah you finished Xenogears, very nice. It has been my favorite RPG for more than 10 years until Yoko Taro came with Nier Automata. Still, up until today Krelian is my favorite villain and I believe his goal for mankind is better than what Fei chose (haha). I found it bittersweet that Tatsuya Takahashi used so many themes form Gears into his Xenoblade series and beside Xeno 1 it could not live up to my expectations. For many years it has been very hard for me to find a JRPG that truly fascinates me. I know that the Persona series is great but I just cant identify myself with highschool students anymore, so I skipped all of those. TO THE POINT: Metaphor is the first jrpg in years that I have high hopes for, because the villain looks to have lots of substance and there are those real themes of psychology that you mention.

Yes I did finish Xenogears! I can now see a lot of parallels Xenoblade 1-3 has to Gears and Perfect Works. Takahashi's storytelling never fails imo. I'm gonna make content on Xenogears and Perfect Works in the future so be on the lookout for that!

Demo looks very weird. Someone pointed out that the game lacks anti aliasing...something I ignore or don't even care about but after playing the demo....this looks like shit but only when you are running around the map. Pls tell me the demo we just got today was just an early build or something, the character models also look rough. The menu look great and run at 60 fps and I can tell, the battle runs a lot better but not great either. The story not going to lie hook me but if the game is going to run like that on PC, yeah I wont buy it unless it get patch or something or a review that can confirm this, because it was very distracting and I just couldn't focus on it, like if someone was shaking my screen. What specs I have? I can run Wukong, like come on. Persona 3 Reload is so much more Smooth and I also have it on PC not a single issue or crash, but anyway. Guess is wait and see then

Honestly, I don't even care if it's "just fantasy/medieval persona". Persona is great, so more of that with a new story/characters & some new mechanics is great. I see so many people bitching that it's just a "Persona 5 reskin". Well, guess what? Persona 5 was/is one of the greatest games of all time. If it's not broken, don't fix it.

The game is good but it feels like there is zero hype for this in the west, I fear it’s going to fail hard in terms of revenue expectations. But then again are persona games ever big successes? They’re mostly for a niche audience that still likes jrpgs with turn based combat. Which is too bad because it feels like budget wise they went all out for this. Even the English dub is really good

My favorite addition to the combat in this is the formations and sync attacks. The risk/reward of using two tokens for an attack adds a lot of depth to decision making

I'll probably won't see this video, because I've been skipping any new trailers or showcases; but I was already sold on it since the first trailer. I can't wait for the game. To be honest demo disapointed me. Because im so hooked on persona 3…4….5 that i did not expect that this game is going to be so dark and grim. Its so hard to attach to characters. Game deals with heavy anxiety themes. I dont know....i expected...hoping for something else

Turned it on…. Walked round a desert, saw the skeletal remains of a huge carcass with massive gaps in the ribs….. couldn’t walk in between the bones… shit game turned it off.
