If you want do upgrade your sound, do everything but what's told in this video! I'm sorry, but this is the exact opposite place where you should spend your money if you're looking for upgrading your audio performance. The same science that was used to make all your music sources (from the actual recording process to your loudspeakers) were made with science, not this kind of minor "upgrades".

I think what you will find is that it’s the little changes that can often times make a big difference. Having the right speakers and amplifier is one thing but fully optimising and ensuring that their are no weak links in the chain is another.

Thanks for the video but pretty sure I would do the exact opposite if I were to look for noticeable sound improvement. What you have listed is the very last stage. Basically tweaks and fine-tuning. It's much easier to hear big sound differences from speakers versus anything else. Like Headphones vs cable or dac. I would also look into DSP solutions to improve room acoustic interaction wayyy before looking into better cables or sources.

I’m glad you enjoyed, DSP is a compensation technique, it softens the sound and collapses the soundstage, I would not recommend using it in a top system.

I'm sorry but it all seems to be snake oil. I have tried different cables and have never noticed any difference in sound. There is a minimm quality needed and thats it. I have tried connecting my srreamer through a cable aswell, no difference there, the amount of data streaming even in high res audio is very small in regards to the bandwidth of wifi which enables videos in hdr 10 plus format with dolby atmos 7.2.4.

Maybe try and keep a cable in your system for a while and then after a few weeks swap it out with the one you were using before. Sometimes it takes time for the brain to adjust to a new sound, especially when you are dealing with cables.

Nonsense IMO. Build (or buy) and calibrate your speakers and see what you can do for the room acoustics. Vodoo cables will do nothing...

I have 6 parts to my network that are wired in and that I stream audio from. Are you saying that you recommend spending around £600 on cables for them? What would I be spending on my hardware to justify the cost of the ethernet cables? Have you spent that much on yours?
@Jacques_HiFiGuide
@Jacques_HiFiGuide Жыл бұрын
I recommend that 10% of your systems overall cost should be spent on cables, make sure to prioritise power and speaker cable since those two tend to be the most important.

I have been involved with Hi-Fi ever since childhood and have worked in the industry before. The point of the video was to demonstrate that their are many areas to optimise in a system and that may be something to take into account before upgrading to the more expensive set of speakers.

Upgrading power supply for internet router? WTF? Will it send bits travelling faster with better sound or what?
@Jacques_HiFiGuide
@Jacques_HiFiGuide 11 ай бұрын
The internet router is prone to RFI and EMI interference, this has a direct impact on the quality of the signal which is being sent to your streamer. Using a high quality low noise power supply will ensure that as much information as possible will reach the streamer without being lost in transmission.

5 miles of heavy gage cable to the utility does not make any difference while your 1 meter audio phools power cable makes deeper bass FLAT EARTHER SCIENCE snake oil Did you learn any physics at school? did you ever attend school?
@Jacques_HiFiGuide
@Jacques_HiFiGuide Жыл бұрын
I strongly believe that the power cable in any audio system is vital to its overall performance. You have to remember that when your cable is running directly running from the wall their is a ton of EMI/RFI interference from devices in and around your home, also other cables that may be in close proximity can interfere with one and another causing more noise in a system. That is why the quality of the conductors and the insulation are crucial to preventing this noise from getting in and keeping the signal as clean as possible. Also the quality of the plugs is critical to ensure a strong contact with the equipment. Maybe try and experiment yourself and leave a better cable in your system for a month or so, you may be surprised when you come back to listening to what you had before.

@@Jacques_HiFiGuide Proper connectors are obvious, and bad connectors are actually illegal and should not be sold. I accidentally bought RCA “cables” with copper as thin as hair, unshielded, this does not mean you have to jump buying snake oil $$$$ audiophools cables, it just means you have to buy certified cables.Ditto power cables. Do you suppose recording studios use audiophools nonsense cables? The cables in the walls are not shielded from RFI/EMI, …. neither is your 1 meter audio cable. is it a coaxial cable? is it twisted pair cable? does it have RF choke ferrite cores on it? In fact to shield entirely from RFI you probably need a power regenerator, or a huge isolation transformer and filter coils. far away from your equipment BC all coils have a magnetic field. but guess what?, audiophile power regenerators are switch mode power supplies that …create their very own RF… and EMI. Every Class-D a amplifier is basically a PWM switch mode power supply that modulate audio on top of a 300Khz carrier ( yes! a wide band AM station), the carrier is mostly filtered out at the output filter feeding your loudspeaker only the audio component ( mostly). If a modern amplifier transfers noise from mains power, then it’s design is questionable. signal cables such as RCA, are supposed to be coaxial shielded. if they pick up noise , then they are faulty, no need to buy audiophools $$$& snake oil, just standard properly manufactured ones.

So, first you have to upgrade cables and NOT your speakers.. Then, you have to bad equipment and speakers for the cables. You don't even know what EMI is or works. So what kind of industry did you work in kiddo? The BS seller or buyer industry? Just stop trolling the interwebz plz.

Obviously you have missed the point of the video, the idea was to inform people that their are other ways to upgrade a hi-fi system other then choosing the more expensive set of speakers. Their are many areas to optimise in a hi-fi system and sometimes people don’t realise this.

@@Jacques_HiFiGuide You are correct, there are many ways to improve a system, as long as they are backed by solid science. The audio industry is full of placebos, and snake oil. Its power cable today, nuts and bolts tomorrow, and voodo (as in shakti stones, artificial ground, cable elevators). It doesn't take rocket science to process an audio signal, we have been doing that since the end of the 1940s, and digital from the late 70s, In fact you should be shocked by the fact that most vinyl starting from about 1978, was actually a digital stream required for the delay needed for the cutting head, while the servo adjusts the grove width for the up coming amplitude compensation, (more bass, wider width). even if your source was analog, today all sources are digital. And so we still have people in 2023 admiring the superiority of "analog" when their analog is actually a digital stream at the mastering facility.
