This week, I revisited the Mississippi River in all its murky terror. The monster lurking beneath the water this time is a whale sized catfish. I also used the tug boat that came in the box set with the steam boat from my first Mississippi River diorama.

Build looks great as usual. I think an interesting setting for a build would be a redwood forest. For a monster I think you should go with a northern spotted owl. I think this would be a good contender for a avian monster.

Could not possibly agree more. Like it was scooped straight out of the bayou. Absolute perfection. The only thing missing is a little more scenery, some river bottom, muddy banks with a dead tree or two, logs on the bottom or even better an old ship wreck.

I am *loving* this universe and your crafting skills are unmatched IMO - my personal suggestion is maybe a ‘full-size’ steamboat (ie, in scale with the main dioramas) with the crew fighting off a boarding action from some giant crabs or similar? Maybe put it on a stand if that would be too much resin? :))

Y'know what steampunk scenes usually have? Airships. Maybe the crabs are breaking out of crates while the ship is trying to land on a much thinner resin river with paint to add fake depth. Big ships landing in water always looks cool

Well done, as always! Sure, you COULD have 3D Printed the giant catfish, (which was nicely sculpted.) But sometimes, the 'old ways' really ARE the best! Your project videos always inspire me to be a better model builder. But this time, it also made me hungry . . . . I can just imagine a person on the boat saying, "Not only are we going to need a bigger boat. We're also going to need a bigger box of catfish breading mix!"

Well done, my dear! Please do name her Lulu, after the giant catfish who was a pet at the local pet store. My cousin owned her for a while, and I loved to say goodnight to her and sleep near her when I was there. She had to go back to the store when she got too big, but we visited her regularly. Eventually, however, the pet shop owner’s Great Danes broke into the shop and wrought havoc. Lulu was never found, I like to think when the dogs smashed her tank she gave them what for, got to the nearby river, and there she is immortalized!

I work on a tugboat on the upper Mississippi River and trust me that catfish isn’t far off 😂 We once thought there was a dead buck floating in the water but once we grabbed the binoculars realized it was a 100+ pound catfish that probably got caught up in a line boats wheels because the water was pretty low.

we *NEED* this as a game, i mean imagine listining to that music as you walk into the dock, boarding this massive work of mechanical wonder. steam and smoke rising to the sky, clouding the heavens above, as you leave a thick metal and wooden *_[CHUNK]_* as the engine whistles and rumbles to life, setting your things down in your room, slingine on a backpack over a thick hide and leather jacket as you descend into the darkness of night, smoke rises, and so does the tension. your mind flicking back to your hard wooden and metal pack, as you flick it on it shoots reinforced yellow or orange bulb out the top, eight to twelve metal bars encasing it as it flickers to a harsh but warm glow. your calmed and reassured from the light sound and vibrating hum of a motor on your back, yet the droning wind digging deeper in your mind. the "backbox" (better name pending) powering your tools, your light and more importantly, your ship as a whole. should it go out in the night however, if your not where you should be quite frankly, your charred waffle-beard toast. id love a game like this where you hafto repair shit on a boat while trying not to die occasionally, BUT NOT FULL HORROR GAME, the main focus is repairs and using various gimmicks to enhance your performance or survive. i would *LOVE* something like guns of icarus and boid train but on a (fucking) BOAT, IN ANCIENT REALITY QUESTIONING INDUCING MONSTERS TRYING TO (FUCKING) *KILL YOU*. god doesnt that sound great? maybe things are causing small to moderate problems on your shittily repaired boat from some shady phoenix rust dealer (likely involved with powering equipment or constructing it) and now *YOU* have to fix it as it breaks, courtesy of you or your bosses mistake. GOD i want something like guns of icarus online repairing mechanics with pseudo horror elements like a low looming dread, but tension released every time you entire one of the nicer rooms, like your quarters for example. but if that big fucker fish attacks you need to get there IMMEDIATELY to fix whatever _it_ broke, in say 1-2 minutes, maybe four at the leanest of times. very rarely having to fix something in the BOTTOM of the boat thats vital for survival or progress. sound good anyone?
