GMan for the weed guard, you can use a piece of electrical heat shrink tubing It comes in a bunch of colors if you wanted to match the weed guard. All you need is a pocket touch lighter to shrink it down. You can even double up on it if you wanted to. I use it for my cheater hooks and when I run a blade on the back of my jigs.

Enjoyed your video. I will definitely try setting up my jigs as you have demonstrated in this video. I Am brand spanking new to jig fishing. I am basically a finesse fishing when using plastic worms Texas Rig or wacky rig and Ned rig. Those are my confident go2faith. My new friend The Jig is very fastly becoming a new confident rig for me. I appreciate your down-to-earth attitude the end of Comedy you throw in from time to time. Keep them fishing.

Great stuff G.. I like using shrink tube myself. Get the shrink ratio of 2 to 1.. you can get the smaller sizes at your local auto parts and they come in many colors.. have a great season y'all. 🙏🙏🤙

I do basically the same thing when I make my jigs. Just with out the tubing. When I’m epoxying in the weed guard I dip it in about 1/2” into the epoxy and get off the excess and glue it in. It does basically the same thing by stiffening up the bottom of the weed guard. But this is a great idea for those “on the water fixes”. You’re the best G-Man! PMA all day!!!!

I’ve been tying mine at the base similar to that to stiffen them a little. Also you can cut a few short and they help to make it stiffer when you tie it

G I can't believe I'm saying this. I have used a coffee straw and covered the weed guard to make it stiffer for very heavy cover plus it also put the coffee sent in the water.

Thanks for the tip! I quit fishing for 20 years and came back to $20 lures. When I quit a titanium spinnerbait cost $7, now it's hard to find a spinnerbait for less! I came home after kayak fishing all day and told my wife, I felt like I was fishing in the right area, but afraid to lose a $20 lure. Any tip that I can use to have more confidence in putting a lure where it needs to be with a little more confidence that I will get it back is really helpful!
