As someone who is in the throes of bringing a project to life, I think this advice is unsound. If it's good enough to succeed, it will do so without the need for "protecting yourself against criticism". I believe that the support and encouragement of colleagues, friends and family is vital for keeping going when self-doubt and adversity threaten.
