Dear Lord, as we rise to meet each new day, please let us be filled with Your spirit. Let us spread love, joy, peace, goodness, and faithfulness wherever we go. Let us desire to become more like you and to worship you in all we do. Help us desire these things so much more than the sin that entices us. Thank you for always going before us. In Jesus’ Name, Amen

After surviving a negative relationship with a narcissist for 19 years, I know deep in my heart and soul I'm ready to leave and move on. I finally realize that I love myself too much to keep allowing someone to verbally abuse me on a daily basis. I just want peace of mind for my well being as a person. I'm not the horrible names he calls me every single day. God will guide me from now on

Once I heard not to place too much in your feelings. Not sure if that is correct. However Brene Brown is so talking to me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

My thoughts: • Standing alone is easier than standing with the wrong people • Being logistically close to someone, does not mean you're not standing alone • Standing alone at the right time builds strength, resolve, and may attract the people you need
@TheDionysianFields

I think you mean standing alone is BETTER than standing with the wrong people. But it's also less extrinsically rewarding in my experience. The idea that it will "attract the people you need" seems like a slight bit of wishful thinking.

However much we find ourselves in a circumstance of being part of a cozy, all-trusting group, a cosmic mind as some people call it, as we grow older we will find invariably that there are reasons that make us different in some way or the other, from those that are our innermost circle. These could be lifestyle choices, a greater preference for solitude and reflection, or, the saddest of them all, a health issue that makes us less and less a desirable person to have close, or that even family find tiresome, irritating, or a sheer nuisance. If these don't form the state of being alone, then the most inevitable of all truths - death - does it in the bluntest way possible.

For most of my life, I had believed that my worth and value was based on what others thought of me. I have finally learned to have faith in myself, and although I have always been single and have lived alone, I am no longer lonely and am happy to let go of all else, to trust myself and my own feelings. This is a lovely talk. Thank you. Yes, going through the wilderness, the fears and tears that brought me here, has been my healing. Best wishes to all! 🙂

“Don’t walk through the world looking for evidence that you’re not enough because you’ll always find it. Our worth and our belonging are not negotiated with other people. We carry those things in the our hearts. I will negotiate a contract with you but I’m not going to negotiate who I am with you because then I am fit in for you but I will not belong to myself. I love her SO MUCH! And this is what I needed to hear today as I've been bummed out about something my manager said to me yesterday. I felt underestimated and misunderstood, like she didn't see all my devotion to the work. But I'm not going to let it get to me. I also saw a video from Abraham Hicks before this one that said, just be who you are and change for nobody. Then when people try to get you to be someone different (so they can feel better), just step back and watch the show. In other words, allow them to have their opinion but don't engage with it. I love these two ladies so much. 🥰🙏

They're retire to tropical paradises or Jackson Hole, Switzerland .. . . and leave you (and me) shuffling around a supermarket with a long stare, imagining life after work - greasy TV dinner, blurry TV, and knowing that come 6am tomorrow you have to go and shuffle around on the supermarket floor stocking shelves.

I was once peed off with life and went to bed ranting at the sky that night. God definitely heard every word because I woke the following day and my head kept automatically turning to face a Bible lying on the bedroom floor. In irritation at having to get up I picked up the Bible, held the spine on my palm and let it fall open. I found myself staring at Isiah 45.9.....“Woe to those who quarrel with their Maker, those who are nothing but potsherds among the potsherds on the ground. Does the clay say to the potter, ‘What are you making?’ Does your work say, ‘The potter has no hands’? I threw the duvet over my head, curled up in a ball and just kept repeating 'No no no, I'm sorry'. LOL

Thank you for this! Wasn't looking for it - it popped up while watching something else. God brought it my way to help me process someone close to me recently asking me to talk less about God. Mind you, it's not ever telling other people if I think they should do this or that. When I talk about God, it's on my own behalf, and what He's doing in MY life! And yet this family member is offended and wants me to leave God out of my stories/situations, etc when talking with them. This video was such a blessed reminder to remain me. In my case, it's not FOR me, it's for God. That said, God uses keeping me who I am, as a way to not have me snuffed out. I do it for Him, and He loves me, and holds me up when others would shut me down. It is beautiful. It IS scary to stand alone! But thank you for reminding me that it's brave. And what I have to remember is that really I am never alone, as God my Father is always with me. This video was such a pleasant surprise. Thank you 🙂

Belonging to oneself is indeed crucial for a healthy and fulfilling life. When we prioritize our self-worth over external validation and societal expectations, we can truly embrace our authentic selves and live a life that aligns with our values and goals. However, it is also important to acknowledge that humans are social creatures and need a sense of belonging and connection with others. Striking a balance between individuality and social connection is key. We can belong to ourselves while forming meaningful relationships and communities supporting and empowering us.

I try to live by the only reason you should be looking down on someone is when you're helping them up. You taught me that Brene and I must admit I do have a generous assumption of people however people have broken that over and over again with me and I find it hard to accept and have been treated like a doormat several times because of asserting myself and then having others gaslight me and push me to a point where I then have acted in a way that is not living up to my morals and values or in my integrity and then I have to find forgiveness for myself all over again. and some of us have been truly blessed to be coming from the wilderness. We resisted that pier pressure & urge to 'fit in & comply'. We listened to what was feeding our soul by being comfortably to sit alone and absorb nature's energy. To many we looked like the outsider as we stayed 'isolated' from conforming to what is their normal. When Covid hit and everyone panicked because they didn't know how to sit with themselves, we didn't miss a beat and embraced the qualities and lifestyles that are our normal. It is more than okay to be different, be independent from those that are sadly crippled to feel ralled into a corporate way to be accepted. We have battled it from the opposite direction and as you grow through the seasons of life, you enter the final one of being carried and cared for because you honored that time of being content by yourself ❤

I want to tell you about a time when I took your book “Wilderness” that I purchased. I put the book in the trash, put the can on the street for pickup the night before. The next morning I was running down the street after that book. Yes, I retrieved, and walked through the wilderness literally with the book in my wilderness pack.❤

I've never experienced a truly loving, reciprocal romantic relationship. I do have my parents and friendships... but 'my crew'? Someone who voluntarily has my back? This is something I've never really experienced. So for some of us, we have the blessing of having to find a sense of belonging that isn't dependant on a spouse or our children. We have to dig so frickin deep... to find a sense of belonging that is cosmic. Because we really have no choice. I would love to find my person... but I'm 46 and it just doesn't seem to be my destiny in this lifetime. Try being vulnerable in the face of repeated rejection, whenever you allowed yourself to be vulnerable in the past. I do still have the courage, amazingly, to keep showing up however, and speaking my truth. In the meantime, anchoring into self love and a connection with spirit is what is sustaining me.

Keep showing up. Please. I ‘think’ the lesson, at least for me, is falling in love with myself. I couldn’t attract genuine love until I gave it to myself. IOW - I couldn’t give something away that I didn’t have…. still working on it. You are worth it. It’s hardest when it matters the most. XOXO

This makes a great deal of sense! It is amazing how far people will go to make you "not" belong to yourself for a good laugh, power, etc. but you must remember "I am the wilderness" and you can not have my part unless I choose to share it with you. People that are false, lie, cheat, etc. are the one's that drive me to anger because I have worked so hard to be the opposite of that. However, it is not MY choice what other's should strive to be. If they want to be that, then I should be quiet and not argue it. Assuming positive intent keeps you in line even when it is not, that is the beauty of it.

There will be times when standing alone feels too hard, too scary, and we'll doubt our ability to make our way through the uncertainty. Someone somewhere will say 'don't do it. You don't have what it takes to survive the wilderness. This is when you reach deep into your wild heart and remind yourself, I am the wildness.

I don't belong anywhere, but I feel loved and accepted because the same conception that conceived nature also conceived me. Everything is connected, so we all belong. We suffer when we refuse to let go of our grief and our heartbreaks. Let go, forgive, and go on. As the lady says, "It's a new dawn; it's a new day". When you take a deep breath, hold it in as you gather all your blues together and release them in a long, slow exhale into the atmosphere. Wave your troubles goodbye because you won't live another minute longer holding on to them.

This is good. "I am the wilderness", as well. And some of us, hopefully most of us will not feel we belong here because we don't. In fact, we belong to God and we are not home yet. We are passing through this wilderness albeit with His spirit in us I believe.

Believe in your vision of what you want to accomplish in your life. Don;t let anyone bully you, you have a voice and continue to use it. The tools that you are learning either positive or negative will help you in your future to make the right choice for your life. Believe me you might feel that you are in the dark right now, but the light will be seen, Just have faith, and remember that this too shall pass.

I must echo your sentiments & particularly the "tone of your voice" comment. The tone, diction, and cadence with which she speaks, for me, is so comforting, if not mesmerizing. It's so disarming and nonathoratative that it allows the content of her message to be received and processed in such a productive way. It comes across as unscripted and completely genuine; not as her 'teaching', but rather as 'sharing'. Beautifully done and a wonderful transfer of her message.

Brene Brown's work is great at a soul level.... Also, I can never forget Oprah Winfrey. She, who has given a stage to so many gifted/driven individuals through her life's work. Some people walk through life, and heal people/situations almost by default, by learning to first heal themselves through determination/necessity. 💓💓💗💓💓

That makes sense now. When I rest/meditate I say to myself, "I am exactly where I need to be. I don't need to believe it, but I need to feel it." Then I will have an internal dialogue with myself between disbelief and belief. It doesn't take long to feel it, then I just sit there with it and breathe. Then just passively listen to yourself. But pretend to listen, don't get lost in the thoughts and just familiarize yourself with the feeling of being exactly where you need to be. I belong to me. I am responsible for me, first because then I can be responsible for others. Sometimes it's okay to ask where the oxygen mask is and how it works. Because you are more important than what makes you vulnerable. But, that's okay because we all belong to the earth. We were born through the choices of others, not by our own. You didn't have a choice in being born, but you do choose how you live. Be kinder to yourself than you are to others. And remember that if it can't be measured, it doesn't exist.

So amazing and inspiring. When we begin to have faith in ourselves the challenges that we face actually become easier to accept. They may seem greater in sense of difficulty but faith allows us to accept and with this we may find the way to overcome or resolve the issue more gracefully. ❤️

Wow!!!! I wish I could communicate my thoughts as eloquently as you!! My inside feelings and thoughts don’t resonate with what I try to say outwardly. The only good part of this is I still have some confidence that I am true to myself at least 99.96 % of my time!!!! Sometimes I must back down especially at work. But I rationalize my behavior with it’s not that important and is it my ego getting into the act!!!😂

To become safer as a human being, I had to risk letting go of my need to be safe... And I had to access and process the buried hurt, anger and fear, driving this need... To become more loving, I had to give up holding on to the unreasonable need: to be loving, all the time... And I had to access and process the shame, hurt, fear and anger that were driving this need... To access a deeper compassion than ever felt before, I had to let go of trying to live up to the expectation of having to be compassionate... To become more vulnerable, I had to bring into consciousness all the programming and commands that kept vulnerable emotions inaccessible... To feel more connection with other human beings, I had to challenge the command that I have to be alone, to be safe, and to survive... To feel more love, I needed to stop seeking safety and I needed to risk allowing people: to come close...

Rene you are by far one of my best teachers. Wouldn’t you agree though that it really is nice to be accepted by those around you. ? Its easy to say you don’t negotiate belonging when you already have a sense of belonging that arises from being around people who you feel accepted by and belonging to.

I would say that the message is that if you have to choose between being okay with yourself and being okay with others, you’ll find more lasting happiness if you learn to be okay with yourself. Otherwise, you might find yourself surrounded by people who you “belong to” and yet feel no connection to them or even yourself. That’s a lonely place to be. If you feel like you are surrounded by others and that you belong to them, ask yourself who among those people would stick by you if you had a terrible accident and were hospitalized and needed aid to do things. People who would not stick by you through the tragedy are all superfluous. Sure, they’re nice to have around to fill the time and social void, but there is no real love or belonging with those people. People who will stand by you, care about you for you are also the kind of people who would probably be more put off by someone they see as fake, or doing things just to impress others. Focusing on you helps you be your authentic self while attracting people who love you for your authentic self and not a superficial mask you put on just to be pleasing. I would rather be alone with my own dignity, than part of a group who has none.
