One of my neighbors (live in America) fought in this war. He saw his first action in Grozny. He moved here to Burgerland a few years after his contract in the Russian Army ended. I hear music like this play at night in his back yard some nights when he’s going through a dark day. He gave me his old camo beanie he wore in the winters after I struck up conversation about his music (I got into Russian music through the Doomer culture). Which led to a table, a chicken and garlic soup, a bottle of vodka, and a photo album with pictures of him and his comrades. He put little Orthodox crosses next to the heads of the ones who stayed in their 20s forever. There were too many crosses on those pictures. I hope he and all those who went through that Hell, and those going through a new one in Ukraine will find peace after its said and done.

The radio conversation between the 2 guys were between LtCol Alik and his former friend. The 2 guys served in the Soviet-Afghanistan war. Then the first Chechen war started and these 2 met, not as friends but as enemies on the Battlefield. The chatter in the beginning was the Chechen pleading his former comrade to retreat to avoid the the blood-shed. To which Alik refused because he had orders to take the Grozny. His battalion of 1,000 soldiers marched into Grozny where they were met with a death trap. They called for artillery support but it landed right on top of them. Only a few men would survive the battle, unfortunately Alik was not one of them.
@wintervityaz5676 Жыл бұрын
The chechen commander in the conversation is Ali Adaev. The russian commander was actually named Ivan Savin("Alik" was just either a nickname or a callsign), and he was never friends with Ali Adaev. They never even knew each other. And Ali Adaev never even served in the soviet army, let alone fought in Afghanistan. First of all, Ali Adaev was muslim, which means that he would never have been sent to Afghanistan, and second of all, Adaev turned 18 only in 1991, which made it PHYSICALLY impossible for him to fight in Afghanistan(the Soviet army withdrew in 1989 because Gorbachev was a fucking idiot and traitor). So thank you for contributing your piece of completely false information to this comment section, but please check your fucking facts before spoonfeeding fake information to those who believe everything they see.

never forget that throughout the whole battle, where the Russians were getting slaughtered, Russia claimed they had full control of Grozny, the Chechen hunt and kill strategy was a horror to experience I'm sure, utilizing small decentralized groups of men who mostly acted independently seeking to utilize methods of ambush utilizing 2 or more of these hunt and kill units to attack in an asymmetrical fashion via alleyways and hiding.

Its a little bit late but here is an explanation of the audio in the beginning of the video and what they were talking about. They were previous friends that had worked together in Afghanistan. This is where they would form their friendship from. The Actual battle which ensued after this audio clip played Mid-afternoon, the first battalion of the 131st MRB occupied the train station. Because of the radio black-out, they were unaware of the 81st MRR's situation. They separated from the second battalion from the freight station to the west, and from the third battalion on the outskirts of the city. The unit parked their tanks and armored personnel carriers around the station to wait for orders, around which time Chechen security minister Turpal-Ali Atgeriyev, who had served alongside Russian commanding officer Colonel Ivan Alekseevich Savin prior to the encounter and was worried about bloodshed on both sides (likely concerned for the safety of his old friend), extended a desperate plea to Savin (nicknamed Alik by Atgeriyev in the brief communication), proposing a negotiation for Savin to "withdraw his men and come to him as a guest", an offer which the latter had no choice but to reject due to having insufficient permission to call a ceasefire. Sometime after, a Russian communications officer heard the words "Welcome to Hell" on his headset. Shortly after, Chechen defenders in the depot buildings, the post office, and the five-story building surrounding the station opened devastating automatic and anti-tank fire. The surviving Russian troopers took cover inside the station, then the Chechens completed their ambush by setting it on fire. Colonel Savin radioed for help and artillery fire, but help never arrived.[21] Most distress calls from the 131st went unanswered. The second and third battalions of the brigade responded to the call for help, but were caught in layered ambushes before reaching the station. Both battalions were ordered to stay away from the Presidential Palace; this added to the trouble as the armored columns turned into alleyways, only to be destroyed by more of the layered ambushes.[21] After a small element of the 503rd Motor Rifle Regiment received orders to move during the early hours of the day, they immediately received friendly fire from the other Russian forces bogged down under heavy fire; they fought each other for six hours (there were many more such incidents, some of them organized by the Chechens). The 8th Corps reached the city center from the north, but were unable to save the units fallen into the ambush. No Russian reinforcements reached the railway station. At sundown, Colonel Savin decided to evacuate the wounded via the only working armored personnel carrier. After loading forty wounded troopers, the APC moved in the wrong direction (toward the center of the city). It eventually turned around to retreat along the same route, but was ambushed by Chechen anti-tank gunners; thirteen of the crew and passengers survived to be taken prisoner. On 2 January, Colonel Savin and his remaining officers abandoned the railway station. They found some abandoned Russian armored personnel-carriers. They attempted to escape, but were attacked by Chechen fighters. Savin died on the street from air-burst shrapnel beside his wrecked vehicle.[21] By 3 January, the 131st Brigade lost nearly 789 men killed (another 75 were captured, and only 160 reached safety), including almost all of their officers. In addition, twenty of twenty-six tanks and 102 of 120 other armored vehicles were lost. The entire Maikop Brigade of over 1,000 men was wiped out in sixty hours. (From wikipedia)

I apologize in advance for the machine translation. And I do not know if you will read this comment. But, like any creative work, it is difficult to translate without losing the meaning of a couple of phrases. The song does not say that "the stars are falling on Grozny," but that they are melting, dissolving. Like ice in warm water or a drop of white paint in a jar of blue paint. When dawn comes, the stars you are looking at gradually begin to fade, they become harder to see because of the dawn, as if they are dissolving into the sky. I will be a poet for a while and say that in this way we can feel the following: the starry sky, the night, can reflect the dreams of the lyrical hero, which gradually disappear when the day comes, returning him to the bitter reality. Well, this is of course fiction and the song sings about how the stars literally disappear.

0:01 -- Ali Adaev, a Chechen field commander who is more known by his voice than by his face. This is the author of the historical phrase "Alik, tell your men to retreat." The Alik and his mens did not retreat and did their duty, and Adaev was killed on January 3, 1995 at the railway station. At the moment when he recorded these radio conversations, hoping to fix in them the weakness of the Russian military and their refusal to comply with the order, as he convinced them, he had less than 100 hours to live.

The terrible thing about Chechnya is, the lots that was fighting the Russian army for "Chechnya independent", they active attacked and slaughtered any Chechen whom aren't fanatically religious to their brand of Islam, and they consider any Chechnya who aren't religious Muslim to be Heretic, and this isn't a wars for Chechens, as they call its, "War against Indifel". This was never about ethnic Russian and ethnic Chechen, this is a war between having a choices and not having any choices.

@@GastonMorales2788 that funny, people like you claims the Uighur separatist just want independent from China too, ignores how many times their NGO hires by the NED had talks so many times that they are at wars against None believers, not just Chinese, and how if they win, not only Chinese will be cleanse from Xinjiang, but also Mongolians. Are since you people left your brains in a desert, both Mongolians and Han Chinese lives in Xinjiang longer than Uighurs whom moves in to the regions latter. Area which are associated with Mongolians community for centuries are claims by Uighurs extremist factions, despite the former being there for centuries. You also know that in Syria, a groups of around hundred of Uighurs separatist factions went and fought the Assad Government and now are occupying a towns in Syria, which kicking out the local and turning it's into a training camps for young extremist, no? Do you know those? Just goes to Xinjiang and ask the local population over there, they hates these extremist.
