You should have started with flattening the back. You seem to have realised later on as the chisel suddenly has the back flattened without explanation. You would need to run it over several grits to get it sharp. It was still tearing the paper at the end. I suppose a disposable jig like this might be worth it for a chisel in need of restoration, but not really necessary for one that just needs sharpening. Im sure many people would find this helpful.

Waste of time. You can buy a jig for a few dollars that will work much better and adjusts to different sized chisels.
