I love how much he talks at their shows! Like when he came to Oklahoma City...I remember him explaining why he chews gum during the show!

When I saw them in 1996 or 1997, they played the Riviera in Chicago. I remember they did a version of Big Me where they changed the lyrics about why people should stop throwing Mentos. I remember the line “Stop throwing Mentos, you know it through. Throw one more at me I’ll throw a thousand at you”. It was so funny because he said Chicago was notorious for throwing them years after the fact. But I will always remember that version of Big Me. I hope to one day hear a recording of it or see if there is another show they did it at and is recorded. I would love to hear if others remember that show and the changed lyrics.

@@LOLTRAIN5506 I could KISS you!!!! Wow! I just gave it a listen. So many memories flooded from 25 years ago. I was 12 and it was the first concert I paid for with my own money. Not the free stuff you saw here and there as a kid with your parents. It was my favorite band and all I had was music videos and the magazine pics. So to be in the room with half of Nirvana was truly mind blowing! I remember that we tried to bring lighters to light during the ballads. Unfortunately our friends parents said NO WAY and gave us glow sticks instead. That place erupted when they opened with Wind Up! I never saw a rock concert and all of a sudden it went from 1 to 100 real fast. I got so squished that I couldn't breathe. I would have to duck or try to jump to get air. And it all was great! Thanks so much for the tip! I never thought I would hear it again. On Big Me I remembered the Mentos lyrics wrong though, but I was close. We heard about throwing Mentos, so we loaded up and brought them with. I luckily got mint, so I didn't eat all mine. Unlike my friends who did because they had the delicious fruit ones. Often I would see people comment on videos saying they were at whatever show the video was of. But they all seemed so unattainable. I never thought I would be the old man commenting. I didn't see Nirvana in 91' or Hendrix in 67'. But I saw Foo Fighters in 97' and I get to relive it 25yrs later! They just got big enough to play the Riviera and not the smaller venue, the Metro. And not big enough for the Aragon, which is where i saw them at the next time they played Chicago. And far from playing Wrigley Field like they do now. Take a listen if you got this far in the story.
