HAF-X! I'm still using my HAF-X case to this day, almost a decade since I got it new. I've built, torn down upgraded and rebuild it in the same HAF-X case many times through the years. It's still going strong. One of the great points about this case, aside from it's cooling capacity, is that it's modular, so when panels started started showing signs of age related wear and tear, you could just order a new one direct from CM. Unfortunately though, many parts are no longer being maufactured due to age, so the cost of replacing them is a lot more expensive. I think I'll try to squeeze another few years out of mine before giving it a dignified send-off in favour of a more modern case.

I have a similar case (the HAF932) until 3 months back where I rebuild to a new ITX system. I now use this case (and the old components) for my Unraid server. The main issue with this case is due to the high air flow, the dust gets collected really easily and the concept of the dust filter was pretty much absent for that period if my memory serves correctly. I have to clean the case once every 3 to 6 months due to the dust build-up so I'm guessing like me, Mike may start cleaning it every other month but it then becomes a pain and quits after that.

Build his new system, and use the same HAF-X case, but modify it like I did to use it for water cooling! Yes, it can be done with using the 5 1/4 bays with a EK pump/res bay kit and then soft tubing. I used an AlphaCool radiator up top for the video cards, and used an EVGA 120 single for just the CPU. Replaced the Fans with Corsair LL fans. Watching this on my FX4100/GTX470/HAF912/Hyper212 PC. Was my first time overclocking. I also cleaned it out not that long ago, but it could probably stand to be cleaned again. I can probably optimize things a little further, bring down temps/voltages, possibly try for 4.5GHz stable again, a more modern GPU... maybe an RX 570?

As for the cooling goes... I'm gonna be honest here - I'm building PC's since 2000 (so 20 years) and (not now but overall through the years) now my NH-D15's and Dark Rock Pro 4 are laughing at all of your water loops....
@rageofheaven4 жыл бұрын
Which loop? My arctic 280 is running at 800 rpm. What's yours doing?
@logicool27934 жыл бұрын
Same dude same. I built a custom loop for my cpu and gpu. Next build I got a dark rock pro 4 and triple fan gpu. My pc looks much beefier imo the large cpu cooler just looks too good. Never again with water cooling

He might not have plugged in the USB3 cable because the HAF had an issue with it. I had one of these cases year ago too and mine went bad for some reason and the USB3 ports would cause the entire PC to not post until it was unplugged. A google search at the time showed it was a relatively common problem.

This is pretty much exactly the same as my first build from back in 2012. Ran it until february last year, CPU still going strong after 8 years of hard use. Only had to change the gpu after it died (probably my fault). The power supply went right across to my new build and is powering it no problem, and I'm still using the ssd as well. They were some quality parts.
@Binaural3DSongs4 жыл бұрын
this dude is just overreacting. this pc is still in good condition even after 8 years and many parts can still reused but no need to say stuff like this is worst condition or anything.

That has pretty much the same specs as the system I built about six or seven years ago only my has 12GB of RAM and a SSD boot drive, and instead of being in a Cooler Master tower it's in an NMedia PC HTPC 8000 wooden computer case. I picked components that were suitable for overclocking under the assumption that if they can handle overclocking they should pretty much last forever streaming KZbin. I've been very happy with the computer and use it pretty much every day... and I'm using it right now.

If you think that Hyper 212 was dirty, you should've seen the inside of the PSU in my old PC. I swapped the whole 8-year-old build into a new case and thoroughly cleaned everything while it was all apart. Then I decided to open up the PSU to clean it, since I never did anything but wipe off surface dirt. I don't know how it didn't die, or catch fire. You'd think that I had thrown it in a mud hole then wiped the outside clean. And it ran flawlessly like that! Still does. The whole PC still does. It's hooked to the TV it in the living room and the wife is watching KZbin on it as I type this.

When I upgraded from my 4790k rig to a 3700x I recycled my Corsair Carbide Air 540 case I have searched for other cases and other than a Phanteks case no other case can replace the Air 540 in terms of air flow in my mind since the case has a very good front for front intake.
