You probably shouldn't be using Ethers.js for your web3 front-end in 2023. Let's discuss some of the alternatives that have come out in the past year. Discord: / discord Twitter: / jarrodwattsdev Lens: lenster.xyz/u/jarrodwatts

as a beginner, do you recommend building dApps with tools that has a higher level of abstraction, or lower?

I agree with your point that ethers.js is too lowlevel for many developers. But on the other hand, how long are we still using React. Perhaps tomorrow we will migrate everything from React to Svelte, since web3 startups are a fastpaced environment.

Thirdweb sdk is paid? Or pricing page on the website only matters if one uses thirdweb's portal?

Hey jarrod great video. I am working on a dapp that support multichain but I’m having issues implementing that idea any help on how I can do this. PS: I’m using thirdweb

Thanks Joseph! one way to do it is mange your own kind of global state for the current network - here’s a guide blog.thirdweb.com/guides/how-to-support-multiple-chains-in-your-dapp/

Thanks for this video Jarrod, I've used all of the tools you went over in the video, and I can hands down agree that thirdweb is great. I instantly started noticing how easier it was to work with.

Hey man... I'm just struggling here and never see your name in the Discord... there are SO MANY ISSUES with thirdweb. Can't pull events right now because of block limit issues (but you can do it no problem with ethers) and all kinds of other crap. This video... it is messed up because your product is no where near ready for production, man. The amount of fresh problems in the support channel/forum everyday is mind-blowing. You guys need to get your shit together before acting like you are even REMOTELY ready to replace ethers lol the face on your thumbnail that you are making at using ethers should really be made at the idea that thirdweb is anywhere close to ready for production. It's awful. So many issues. I highly recommend people just stay with ethers at this point. Another note, the support 'team' is almost impossible to get real helpful responses from. They will go 24 hours + sometimes with not a word... and then all the time they are "passing this to engineering" then later "checking with engineering" with still nothing helpful... then later "Checking back in with engineering" with nothing resolved. The idea of thirdweb is awesome. But it's really frustrating that you guys act like this is at all ready. It is not. Don't even get me started on the docs lol

Fair enough - Although I do still use thirdweb for nearly every web3 project despite not working there anymore. Worth giving it a shot if you haven't tried it out. Up to you, wagmi/viem and others are always valid options

Why do people use etherjs/web3js/truffle/hardhat rather than geth?
