Thank you for leaving a comment. I was not sure if this was the actual instructions but on silver hair it just ruins it. I know I talked to them years back and the emails became overly confusing so I had to say don’t do it because if I was losing all the details the regular consumer would too.

That is a different type of yellowing from heat damage. Heat plus vitamin c treatments is very different. It is a chemical reaction that creates anything from a pink tone to a caramel color. Heated brushes are often very very hot and can cause instant heat damage for certain hair types, I’m very sorry that happened. 🌟

Thank you for this info! I always have to make sure my products are white or colourless, as anything with a yellowish tint tends to stay on my white hair. On that note, do you know which product is comparable to Sebastian potion 9? It turned my hair orange - but I love how it holds and makes my hair shine. Looking forward to the next video!

Hi Giovanna, I used to LOVE Sebastian Potion #9. It is amazing. I am not 100% sure of something comparable, you might look at Ouidad Advanced Climate Control gels and their Curl Quencher Hydrafusion. Hope that helps. 🌟

If only I’d found this video a couple of weeks ago! I used Schwarzkopf BlondeMe vitamin C Booster (1 sachet to 25g of BlondeMe mask) to freshen up my grey. I was disappointed with the result so used a blue toned shampoo to neutralise the yellow before air-drying. Over subsequent days my white/yellow became more red-toned orange. I scoured the internet and thought that a Maillard reaction had taken place. I tried heated oil, clarifying shampoo & toothpaste which hasn’t had much effect. I ordered a sachet each of Malibu C hard water remedy and undogoo. The hard water remedy does say on sachet not to use on unpigmented hair(unfortunately the website I ordered it from didn’t state this-I’m in the UK). Hoping undogoo helps but not sure 1 sachet will be enough! Thanks for confirming caramelisation can take place & I’m not totally off-beam

Oh my goodness Julie, I’m so sorry this happened. I wish I had a go-to answer for you. But please do not use the Malibu C packets, this will only contribute to the problem now. You could try a bit of baking soda mixed with gentle shampoo one to one ratio, rinse thoroughly, shampoo again, and then deep condition. See if that helps.

Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us. Do you think avoiding shampoos containing citric acid would also be good or is that something totally different? 😀
@QuickSilverHair
@QuickSilverHair Жыл бұрын
That’s a great question Amy. No, you do not need to avoid citric acid, it is not vitamin c, Vitamin C is ascorbic acid. Nevertheless, citric acid in shampoos is used most often to stabilize the pH of a formula, and is in a very low concentration.

Hi, thank you for your video. I recently contacted Malibu and got the same information. I am about to embark on washing with bottled water and doing the sachet with 3 clarifying washes. After watching your video, I'm wondering if I would be better to use my hard water shower, to get a better rinse? Or do you think it would rinse with bottled water. Thanks to your video I'm realising how important the rinse is. I will be using bed head detox shampoo cos I have a big bottle to use up...maybe I'll do the first two washes in the shower and the final rinse with bottled water? Btw, lots of white hair, no dye for 3 years, and have spent a small fortune trying to combat the yellow!!

Hello Karina, best bet is to shampoo, do the crystal packet, and then “shampoo & rinse” twice after. Making sure to rinse really well on the final rinse. And then I’d follow with conditioner and no heat that day. Maybe your final rinse with bottled water.

This happened to me , this passed weekend. Once my hair 0:13 turned pink, I found out what I should’ve done. So I tried to use the un-do-goo and get it out. After 3 washings, most of the pink came out, but not all of it. What else can I try? I had beautiful white hair that is not yellow and pink.

I’m so sorry this happened!!! How very frustrating. Unfortunately, vitamin C causes a chemical reaction in the hair and once it turns pink it is very difficult to get rid of. You could always try my clay product and see if it lifts any of it, I’d love to know if it does. Keep up your clarifying but no more than once a week. Try a different one like The Ordinary shampoo instead of Malibu C Undo Goo. Make sure you use a deep conditioner or a moisturize conditioner to keep your hair from getting dried out from all the clarifying. I wish I could stop this from happening to anyone. 🌟💎 Shine On! 💎🌟

Unfortunately, it seems to be a permanent issue. Most that I have talked to used clarifying shampoo a few times and it lightened a little but growing it out is now the main option. I am very sorry if this happened to you. Because you have blonde hair you may be able to color over it.

Hi Joli, thank you so much for these videos specific to silver hair concerns. I just purchased a bottle of the Malibu C Undo Goo shampoo and now I’m worried about using it and wonder if I should just return it. Are you pretty confident that the shampoo is okay? I’m probably being overly cautious, but do you think I should just play it safe and not use the Undo Goo shampoo? Thanks again!

Hi Anne, the Undo Goo shampoo is the ONLY product I highly recommend from Malibu C. I have used several bottles in the years since I ditched the dye. It is only for product buildup and does not remove hard water or mineral buildup.

Jolie - may I ask why Undo Goo is “the only” one you recommend. I need to chelate and it appears the MC Hard Water Shampoo would be fine. It does not contain ascorbic acid. Is there any reason not to use it?
@QuickSilverHair
@QuickSilverHair 5 ай бұрын
Hi Dawn, that’s a great question. Aside from Undo Goo, I stopped recommending their products across the board because of the confusion on how to use them on white hair. You probably won’t have issues with the hard water shampoo, but it does have Sodium Ascorbate which is a mineral salt of Ascorbic Acid…that’s one of the chelating agents, and it formulated into the shampoo is likely not going to cause issues with white hair. I think the Ordinary shampoo is a better clarifying shampoo for all clarifying including chelating.

I'm upset that I didn't see your video before deciding to use Malibu C Hard Water Product. I just used it on my hair last night then went to bed with wet hair. I woke up this morning and my hair went from Blonde with some hair that's recently turned silver to a burnett hair color overnight. I always had blond hair, as a child it was platinum blonde, then became more regular blonde and as I got older it was few colors of blondes (kinda like highlighted) and lastly the gray/silver came but now my hair is Burnett. Is there anything I can do to fix this? 👇 What Can I Do Now 🙎🏼‍♀️👩🏻‍🦳🙎‍♀️

I’m so sorry you’ve had this experience. The best I can offer is to try clarifying your hair with a clarifying shampoo. The Ordinary shampoo is a good one. You can also try using my clay mask to see if that helps, but I have no info from anyone saying they have done the mask after Malibu C packets and had it change the discoloration. It could be worth a try. Again, I’m so sorry this happened. I wish they would update their instructions.

@@zuma5443 this is NOT something you want at all. It turns lighter hair colors orange if it causes a chemical reaction, this won’t darken your grays. It’s a caramel orange color that looks burnt and in some cases it can even turn pink, not want anyone really wants. I most highly recommend Seen Shampoo, for your every washday shampoo. It contains chelating ingredients that help protect your hair from the buildup from the start. It is what I use in very hard water and the champagne hue I had in my hair for several years has disappeared after using Seen for the last 3.5 years. Seen Shampoo and Deep Conditioner are my every washday products and their style creams both have UV and Heat protection so you start off on the right foot immediately. seenhaircare.sjv.io/c/2700406/1020437/12994
