I think one of the things that glimmers through the videos on your channel is a simple, pure, and unadulterated gratitude for and appreciation of the beauty to be found in the everyday. You have a stunning home and homestead, and you've clearly worked hard to get where you are, but at times, I must admit, it's easy to feel envious of where you are and the beauty you've surrounded yourself with through hard work, intentional design, and obvious trial and error over many years. I'm simply not in that season of life yet, busy with Littles and my humble backyard suburban garden, and that's ok. However, while you were sharing how inspired you are by aesthetics (which seems clear to me, as someone also inspired that way), it occurred to me that you've also clearly cultivated an attitude of gratitude and appreciation for your home and surroundings regardless of their external beauty, and I think that alone lends beauty to a home that cannot be obtained by any other means. For example, my '80's formica countertops stain from spaghetti sauce in seconds if I don't wipe spills up immediately, and it's a far cry from the butcher block I'd love to have in my kitchen someday. But your channel reminds me that maybe, just maybe, if I work on cultivating current appreciation and thankfulness for the countertops I already have but don't love so much, perhaps those very surfaces will be graced with the beauty I desire for my home even now. Thank you so much for that regular reminder. ❤️

Your so right, I love the summer the sunshine, but there is great beauty in staying in the house (mostly the kitchen) and the white snow that covers the ground reminds me of how God covers our sins. thank you!

What a beautiful time we get to spend with you..the snow is falling here and the sun is going down so there is a pinkish glow. I made cookies today and my hubby keeps sneaking into the kitchen for another one or two of them while he reads his book. I made a coffee and am watching you, dreaming of Italy and feeling so grateful for such a wonderful life.

Having done the big garden for 25 years now from doing my own starts in early Feb to planting the garlic and potato onions as the last chore around Thanksgiving, I can tell you that you absolutely do NOT just want to keep working and pressing on. My Dec and Jan schedule is light. There's a good month in there where I do almost nothing. Lots of play time, distractions and relaxing, just letting your brain defrazzle, letting the stress fall off and sort itself out. When plant starting time comes I'm getting bored and energetic. It's a good system.

We are in Georgia and dont have hard winters... I mean, we had the windows open and fans on last week. 😆 I still try to spend my winters doing things like sewing aprons and dresses, this year i started a quilt, and crocheting, and canning things like meats and beans. I adore your channel, so chock full of great ideas that spark my creativity for our homestead.

First off...I love your videos. I live in New England and I think I must be an outlier because I truly enjoy winter and days without sun. I'm not quite sure why but it makes me feel so cozy, warm and quiet. Fall is my favorite season but winter has a special place in my heart.

I live in south Florida and the endless sunshine and heat and pretty much constant summer weather can bring on the same feelings. I know people think oh no that cannot be but it is. I’m originally from WNY and know the seasons and looooooong winters very well, being here for 20 odd years I can honestly say the feelings can be the same.

I live in south FL also, and completely agree with you. I moved here in 2000 from the Midwest, and was sick of living through long winters. It took about a dozen years, but now I'm sick of endless summer, and planning to move back to KC in a few months.

Yup I’m a Floridian transplant too. Sometimes it can be discouraging that there is no “season of rest” down here. Just goes to show that it’s all about our attitude.

No snow here in NE Lower Michigan at the moment. World visited Frankenmuth had to cancel their Ice Fest for the first time because of the warm weather. We are still waiting for the Winter snow to hit. Spring takes forever here. The best seasons here are Summer and Fall.

We had a 3-day cold snap at Christmas and that’s all the winter there has been in southwest Pennsylvania. Zero snow and so much mud. I did a total face flop in the muck and manure trying to give the cows minerals yesterday! I’d love just a little snow or a couple freezes to get a break.

I strongly believe in the comfort, good food can bring. We've been working yesterday (a saturday) , and the customer had cooked a goulash soup. If anyone would ask me, what a traditional german homemade goulash soup would taste like? THIS WAS IT! Today, I'll be cooking Pasta Alla Genovese. Just found it on the channel "Glen and friends cooking". They are located in The Quebec area. Cooked it Loved it. And shared with a friend in Alberta. He just wrote me back, that he added it to his list of favourite dishes and even shared the link on his facebook account. Comforting someone from afar? Kind of. Some say: "well, your spending 2hrs in the kitchen, andthen it's all consumed in 15 minutes." They don't understand. 2 desserts I made for frends some 25years ago are still a topice, when we come together , these days. Baking cookies for christmas with kids has inspired the oldest (13, back then, now 24 and mon of 2) to bake really fancy cakes. Ever since I cooked my goulash for my wife in the US: everytime my feet hit US soil, I'm sure to have to cook that at least once, during my stay. So I know from personal experience: some cooking can go a long, long way. Greetings from the far north of Germany!

I’ve had several days in the 80’s in Central Texas ☹️. I wish we would have had snow. We only had 12” rain in 2022 and nothing as yet in 2023. We are desperate for moisture.

I’m not wasting them. I actually have 60 milk jugs with seeds that have germinated and waiting to go in the garden. I have 30 plastic cloches ready to put on them once we pass this next week. They are hardened off but not quite ready for the 20’s. We always get that in February so I’m giving them more time. They are on a table that’s shaded but no heat. I never waste time. I’m a Master Gardener so there’s always something needed done.

THE BOUNTY TABLE; Everyone HATES that I keep all my fresh produce on my counter! Finally someone who gets me. I am ecstatic right now. I really thought I was the only one who loved to display their produce, make things more practical. Listen, the minimalist lifestyle, in every sense of the word, will never be relatable for me. I don't even like the way empty spaces look or make me feel.
