Jazakallahu khayr. Is it correct that this also includes refraining from speaking ill of the disbelievers (both living and dead)? As I do recall being warned against insulting the disbelievers as it is considered bad manners, and also because it might give them a reason to lash back and insult Islam. I see this a lot especially in regards to a certain “alphabet people” since it’s such a polarising topic. Prophet Lut (alayhisalam) himself showed the perfect example of how to deal with them. “Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue with them in a way that is best. Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who has strayed from His way, and He is most knowing of who is [rightly] guided.” - Quran 16:125

You dont get his message do you? Youre the ignoramus here. The shaykh was referring to the youth who engage in talking about qeel wal qaal affairs. The ulama have the right to talk about jarh wa ta'deel affairs because of their experience and insight that the youth dont have. Learn the difference or rather learn to read first.
