Yeah, thalassophobia videos always get ruined by some big dumb sea creature -- which is probably a separate type of phobia all-together. Thalassophobia is the fear of big - and seemingly endless - deep open bodies of water. It simply doesn't matter if you're alone or not; it is equally as terrifying and unnerving either way.

That’s not how flares work. Firstly of course you fire the flare when you see a search plane. Secondly, they are on a parachute and stay in the sky for ages. Not to mention that they of course do not work underwater.
