I’m quite new to the Jacob Collier fandom. I must’ve been under a rock somewhere. Amazing ARTIST in every sense from curiosity to performance to personal introspection to audience inclusion, he delivers on all fronts! I just wonder how many calories he burns throughout the course of even one song. His energy is mindblowing!
@dehsinotsa8 жыл бұрын
Sorry but I've gone through some of these comments saying it's too much and he has a disconnection from the audience and I don't get it. This project is called 'In my room' not 'In your head', let him do him and if you like it then fine, if not then fine; you can not takeaway from his talent and his amazing ear for music. I'm so happy an artist can be himself and be successful, I just wish people wouldn't try to dictate what people should and shouldn't do, it's creativity, let it be free.

Obviously those people that think he has a disconnection to his uadience have never seen the clips where he has a 1,000 plus audience all singing in 6-part harmony . . And - by the way. . . How 'connected' is a symphony orchestra to the audience? How 'connected' was Coltraine to his audience when he was playing his heart out? A *GOOD* musician is NOT OBLIGED to 'connect' with an audience. . His job is to be connected to the MUSIC. . It's the job of the audience to LISTEN to the music and (hopefully) become 'connected' to the music. . DON'T TELL ME that this audience is NOT connecting to the music!!!!!!!

There's a saying that science when advanced enough will appear to be magic. I would express the same sentiment about Jacob's music. What he does seems almost more like magic than just music. Musical magic to be sure but how does he do it? Absolutely brilliant.
@jordanbradford77293 жыл бұрын
He probably recorded most or all of the instrument tracks, and during the performance each track is probably armed in his DAW so that his live playing replaces the recorded stuff. I think the looping is also automated because I don't see him doing anything obvious to turn it on and off like stepping on a footswitch.
@robote76793 жыл бұрын
@@jordanbradford7729 Sounds quite possible. I'm still amazed at the vision and talent it takes to conceptualize and coordinate all of this so seamlessly. There are a lot of people who can juggle 3, 4 even 5 items. To expand on my analogy Jacob seems to be able to "juggle" dozen's of things all without losing the emotion and joy of the music.

I've read some people say that Jacob in this show is somehow "disconnected" from the audience because he runs around and changes so many instruments. I have not seen it live (i wish i did so much) but i think that this is just perfect. Limiting himself to piano and voice could be OK, but this format shows so much of his talent, not just as a composer but as a performer too. And the world NEEDS to see his talent!! Do people even have an idea how much focus goes into delivering a performance like this? This is seriously the most incredible shit i have seen in years, maybe ever. Give this guy ALL THE SUPPORT you can, please!
@sidenotes8 жыл бұрын
I understand what you mean, but i still disagree. Obviously his incredible "circus" talent of being able to play tons of different instruments is something totally separate from his musical creativity. It could also "damage" the music a little bit, as you say. But my point is that this acrobatic stuff could help him get more popularity. It is just a MEAN to channel his music to the largest audience possible. After all, this is partly what concerts are about. If he had a band of great musicians, it would probably look more "normal" at first sight. Even though the music would still be incredible, it would stand out less to the "casual" listener. So if this "circus" type of show is something that helps him get to the big scene, i'm totally supporting it. He's still extremely young he has loads of time to put together a band and do all kinds of musical journeys with whatever ensembles of musicians. Anyway, whatever happens, this will still be remembered as one of the best displays of musical technique and versatility, at least that i am aware of :) . I hope you agree on that, at least :)
