Are you interested in combat sports? Wilson is an absolute legend of actual fighting professionally. Van Damme is a legitimate black belt that competed in point karate matches and it doesn’t matter they are called ‘full contact’. There is nothing wrong with that but Don Wilson was absolute beast in the ring. Just research his fights. He was massacring opponents.

@@TOP5ALIVE154 I appreciate you are a fan and I am too but Van Damme would probably die in the ring. All his kickboxing matches are pretty much a fake record. They are meaningless competitions where you fight 5 guys a day on points. Don Wilson did incredibly shitty and cheesy movies but he is provably top 3 of martial arts movie stars that are legitimate. Just watch his fights. Also, since staring his Hollywood career Van Damme really did bodybuilding training only. Stretching doesn’t matter. Van Damme hasn’t practiced martial arts or fighting for most of his life.

The truth is that Van Damme only trained martial arts for a little part of his life and competed in point competitions while Wilson is a real kickboxing legend who was extremely brutal in the ring and fought for a very long time.

I enjoyed Don the Dragons films but he’s right : Van Dammes legacy is the fact the NO ONE and I mean NO ONE had the screen prowess of JCVD in his prime. I don’t care if he was a real fighter or not. His movies got people thinking about fighting, and a lot of people got into fighting because of JCVD. Period .

Then how come none of his past opponents have stepped forward to confirm any of this? All that exists are a few pics of JCVD doing point Karate which isn't even full contact. And of course Michel Qissi will say JCVD is a fighter because they're best friends growing up in Belgium. At least w/ Wilson, one can pull his fights up on KZbin.

No sanctioning bodies or fight promoters have come to light to verify anything whether it be under Van Damme or Van Varenberg (his birth name). All that exists are a few pics of him doing point Karate. Perhaps you'd like to share some reference material that verifies him as an actual fighter. At this point, it's all speculation and hearsay.

I love Don but hes in no shape to go with Jean Claude, hes also lying, there are extensive videos of Jean Claude fighting in Europe in kickboxing matches, its how he was discovered as a Dancer and eventually landed in No Retreat No Surrender and Black Eagle. I Love Don but hes a big talker.

A big talker who backed it up with a draw w/ Jean Yves Theriault. He also beat Dennis Alexio, Maurice "Big Mo" Smith, and Branko Cikatic who went on to become the first K-1 heavyweight world champion after KOing Ernesto Hoost. Big Mo went on to become a K-1 USA champ and UFC heavyweight champ after winning against Mark Coleman in a UD. Let's not forget that a mid 40's Don Wilson beat former K-1 contender Dewey Cooper who was in his 20's at the time upon his coming out of retirement.
