I grew up in Tennessee. I am 66 and watched Dolly all my life. She is self made which makes her true in my book. Such a talent. Love Dolly.

It's always about her looks. But we all know there is much more beneath the physical beauty. Male interviewers reveal their focus often. But, Dolly always bypasses their male attention and shows her intelligence, integrity, honesty and pride in who she is and where she comes from. She is in complete control of any derogatory intentions from women and men.

One of the many, many things I love about her is she’s not afraid to make fun of herself or laugh at herself! She usually beats them to the punch line… she knows people often joke about her looks, but has said many times, there’s a heart beneath the boobs and a brain under the hair. She’s even made jokes about modeling her iconic look after the town tramp where she grew up!

At 21:05 you see the most handsome, adorable gay man. (It takes one to know one.) I think of when this took place - 1986 - and truly hope he is still here enjoying Dolly. It’s such a shame that later movie with Jane and Lily was never made! It sounds great! Colin Huggins was an incredible writer. I have never had the pleasure of meeting Dolly - not yet - but I have met Jane and Lily and they couldn’t be kinder or more gracious to their supporters.

Other than tennis shoes for a little exercise, yes she does. Her house slippers have somewhat of a heel as well. They’re not just for beauty. She’s short and lives in a regular height world. That world includes her own kitchen cupboards. Plus she says she’s worn them for so long, her legs hurt if she’s in a flat shoe for very long.

17:50 Phil talks like Americans traveling around America instead of going to Europe is something new and some sort of tragedy. "You have to feel sad about the cause of this". Unemployment was really high in 92 and 93. I was 30 years old at the time and the only people that I ever knew that traveled to Europe, anyway, were very wealthy people and the upper middle class folks. Some schools would have a "Senior Trip" that would go to Europe, but mostly they went to places like New York, Orlando or out to California. It just bugged me that Donahue thinks taking a trip to Virginia or Tennessee is essentially slumming. LOL

So I have to go one step further....she was the rubber tube that someone throws out to you to save you from drowning . I was a little girl when she gave her first concert with Porter Wagoner ,in Georgia! It was the only time I was ever going to. Many men did that back then. You should see the Helen Mirren video on Parkingson or ANY Johnny Carson Tonight Show Interview with a woman. It was normal, but not right, and women just hid their annoyance about it. Was there, this is true. (Also, to the other poster, there weren't "liberals" in 1986 -- that was a BS term Reagan exploited. There were only regular people and the ultra religious moral majority freaks of Jerry Falwell, who didn't ask sexist questions but certainly did sexist sht out of the spotlight)
