in the late 60's and 70's my mom sang country music at bars and clubs through NY and PA and she idolized Tammy Wynette and Loretta Lynn but Tammy was her favorite singer and she even dyed and wore her hair like Tammy. my mom was performing at a club with her 2nd husband Art when Tammy stopped in with her people and as soon as my mom heard she was in the club she changed her set to perform one of Tammy's songs and Tammy was so impressed she stood up and clapped when she was done and Tammy encouraged her to follow her dream in country music but 4 failed marriages and 7 kids later my mom allowed her dream to die because she was working 2 jobs to support all of us kids with no help from our fathers. the memory of Tammy was one that my mom talked about almost everyday of her life, she actually met my dad while performing at a bar with her then husband and her friend even took a picture that night of the 3 of them on stage performing. my dad was there to perform with his buddy but the guy got too drunk so the manager asked my mom and her husband if they'd perform with my dad Mike and that's how they met, a short time later my mom divorced her husband Art (who had beat and raped her but back in the early 70's there was no such thing as a husband raping his wife) i grew up listening to my mom sing Tammy, Loretta and Patsy's songs, she would sing to all of us kids and she even played some rock n' roll and soul music so we grew up with a diversity of music in our lives. i lost my mom in 2012 but whenever i see videos like this it reminds me of how cool and awesome my mom was and i can say without a doubt that if i would've met her when she was my age it would've been really something to hang out with her and see her perform. i love you Mom.

I wish we could still in current times get married and having children at 14 years old. What a difference this world would make.

Lorettas father was very handsome when he was young. I think its where Crystal Gayle gets her looks. Depression era Americana was interesting. Rough times, but still interesting.

I went to see her in May, 1996, She came to Spartanburg,S.C. Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium. Peggy and Patsy open for her. She was so sick about mid way through the concert she had to sit down. Peggy and patsy worked the concession stand selling her shirt’s. I got a Black Shirt With Loretta wearing a blue shirt on the front. Her bus broke down on the way there. So they had to put her on another bus which didn’t help her to feel much better. Then by the time they got here it had started raining. So they had to put her hair up. She didn’t act sick or aggravated by having to leave her bus. One of the twin’s said mama knows her bus as good as she does her home. So thank you Peggy and Patsy for helping your mom and autographed my tickets. ❤😊

She had an all around beautiful family 😻😁. Here parents raised their kid's with respect, and love. The song the Judd's recorded love can build a bridge 🌉🌉✨ is what Loretta Lynn family was, and is. I wish her dad could have lived long enough to see his Queen 👑👑 of country music become a legend, and I know he would be proud of his daughter Loretta Lynn, and his other kid's. RIP the Lynn family, and the Webb family may you all rest in peace ✌️🕊️🕊️✌️.

Oh, Loratta... I'm lost for words. I have loved her and Dolly my whole life. And I'd sure like to meet them both. But I'm afraid I won't make it to Tennessee in time to meet Loretta. I'm going next year. Oh, God only knows. I hope Loretta will make it 'till 100 and still be in her right mind. And I wish nothin less for the love of my life, Dolly Parton!!

I just love her life story so much. Many inaccuracies concerning dates in her life in early interviews and documentaries were prevalent, which probably was because Loretta didn’t want people to know her age back then. In recent decades more accurate details about her age and the events in her life have been revealed. I have been so interested in her as a person and her life ever since I watched Coal Miner’s Daughter in the mid 1980s as a teenager.

That's not true. She embellished for the sake of the book. To make the story more dramatic. She knew she married at 15 .

Butcher Hollow? I always thought it was Butcher Holler
@CherokeeBird11 ай бұрын
It's actually pronounced Hollow, but Appalachian dialect pronounces it as Holler
