We bought this album in 1996 and played it in the car and basically loved it to death! It's so lovely and nostalgic listening to it again here! Thank you!

Think you're the only one who loves this album? Jeff Beck loved Declan so much he started leading off his sets with it!

Like several others, I've owned--and relished--this for many years. Some of the most beautiful music I've ever heard in a longish life engaged with the performing arts. I own a large amount of music acquired over more than 40 years: Dennis Doody's/Tolka Polke and Declan are among the most beautiful enriching soulful pieces ever delivered to our body and soul. These are not minstrels; They are masters of their instruments and magicians. Donal Lunny is not merely a great musician, he befriends and assembles such fine and dynamic musicians and guides the creation, the birth of the exceptional, the beautiful.

You have no idea how happy I am to find this! I have the CD but sadly it was damaged and I can’t play it anymore. Leppadumdowledum is my favourite track and one of my all time favourite ‘happy’ tunes that never fails to lift my spirits. To hear it again, on this first day of 2020, is the best new year gift I could have asked for! 🙂

I loved this music 30 years ago and now I am coming back to it. it is exactly the kind of music we need now. it is so natural and like much of Irish culture very connected to nature in a mystical way.

Love this so much. Was the only traditional album my dad played that I really loved. Never heard anything like it before or since.

It certainly does, May! I'm just encountering this online, though I know the music well. I saw Donal Lunny and Planxty with Christy Moore, a great friend, perform in Dublin at the Chariot Inn about every weekend, when I was living in Dublin in the early 1970's. Magnificent stuff, bringing back so many memories! Thank you, May-- You're a true Paddy! But, what is so great about Donal, he just loves the music and plays the music for what it is, and gives out his joy of the music to everyone. That's a special gift, a spiritual gift, that is Donal Lunny. His smile alone makes you happy. God bless!

It's Lunny's self-titled album from 1987, on the Gael Linn label. Band includes Arty McGlynn and Manus Lunny. This is one of my all-time favorite albums. Thanks for sharing it here!

Day MeeYen Thanks for sharing this great milestone of irish music. Love this since I bought it 1988 on vinyl. Few years later on CD. But the playlist here is the original from the vinyl. On CD they changed tunes 2. and 3. - but not on playlist at the backside of the case. So first comes polka-set and then "Coast River". Many greets

Hi Joe, My parents played in The Black Lion in Kilburn High Road for 40 years. Going to see the Play when my late friend Joe Kelly played one of the characters was one of the stranger experiences of my life. Very moving take on life in London for Irish people in the 50's 60's etc. M

The concert was not only recorded, it was taped. It was at the 1987 O Riada Retrospective. To see the actual performance of these very songs: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mHXNdZuNfq9kkLM

Where can I get a cd of this album. I’ve loved it for over 30 years now; I first was given it on tape

BTW, If anyone is looking this on CD or LP, check out Discogs. Loads of copies on there for cheap. It goes for silly money on eBay though.
