I appreciate the fact that they addressed this, and the fact that they did not shame, insult or disrespect the folks that vocalized their objection for this project. They understood the feelings and were humble in how the explained why it was made

Correction, they didn't shame/disrespect a "portion" of the folks who objected to this project. And that's because Donald himself doesn't like remakes, so he understands that issue. So for folks that have an issue because it's another remake, that's a valid objection. But those that deserve to be shame/insulted/disrespected are those that call it "woke" or clearly have issues with interracial relationships. And that's why they're routinely called out.

To me, the '96 CBS television series of the same name is a closer version than the '05 movie. Totally love this current series. Praying for a 2nd season, and can definitely see a video game developed based on it.
