This is truly moving and perhaps the most powerful commentary I have seen regarding the fraught nature of modern health systems, the history of slavery, and the continued racism in medicine. Rodney's personal exploration of sickle cell brings to fore a long, complex narrative of the suffering faced by those with this genetic condition, that is rarely spoken of. A deeply personal and remarkable account.
