He had nothing to do with the ceasefire agreement. He made a threat, which shows his lack of understanding of what was a complex situation. Biden and the negotiating team had put in a structure which was finally agreed to by all parties. Trump had no part in this and will claim he did. Making a threat isn’t negotiating and could have put the hostages into a dangerous place.

It is actually a good deal from Israel's long term point of view. Those who don't think so have no strategic foresight. First, Israel is constrained militarily since Oct 8th by 2 factors. One, the hostages, Two, the Biden Administration. So, first, Israel must get all the hostages back; second, in comes Trump as US president, which was why this deal was not accepted by Israel way back in May. With these two factors in place, (hostages back and Trump as president), all future military actions by Israel will have no more constrain. Therefore Israel can now accept a deal which on the face of it is unsatisfactory, something which Israel knows Hamas will accept because it is not that good for Israel. But never mind, it is only for the short term for the sole purpose of getting the hostages back, and when that happens Hamas will have no more bargaining chips when Israel launches an attack next time which will surely happen because Israel knows Hamas will break the ceasefire sooner or later, what with the release of Hamas fighters from Israeli jails. And this time with Trump behind Israel's back, Hamas will finally be wiped out with no more worries of harming Israeli hostages. So, Hamas still in power with this deal is only temporary. Finally, on the political home front, the Israeli government gets to free itself from the pressure exerted by the hostages' families. Also, Israel now could reply to the accusations of the international community that it is not serious about peace by accepting a deal which is not 100% in Israel's favor. Israel could do nothing right. If it does accept this deal, Israel is allowing Hamas to remain in power. If Israel does not accept this deal, it is accused of not wanting peace and only wants to carry on committing genocide. So, what does the international community want? Peace at any price or genocide?
