The Saints were obedient to their confessors because they knew how important it was for their spiritual growth. I love these presentations and look forward to them every week. Adrian, you do a wonderful job and I am grateful to have you. Thank you for answering the call.

Thank you! It's important to note that obedience to your confessor is important but the obedience should never extend to anything sinful. We should be very careful who we put our trust in. Sometimes I go to confession to priests I know are not so great just cuz I need to go and i take their advice seriously but also am careful to test everything and retain what is good.

Our lord was pleased seeing her obedience to not only her confessors commands because technically God speaking through his mouth commanded her to meet her visions of Jesus with a test to be certain he’s not the enemy pretending to be Jesus.

Very bold, personally I would only do so if I knew my confessor was himself a Saintly man and well educated in matters of faith and morals.

It is also not true.

It's either taken out of context, big time.. or not true.. Whether it's your parents, the pope, a priest.. or an angel of light.. If he's there to lead you to sin.. Do not listen

@@FrankD23 Go to Chapter XXIX of the Autobiography of Teresa of Avila. The bad spiritual directors gave her the command to do worse than spit at the vision. She says she was told to "give him the finger!" Thanks be to God, St. Peter of Alcantara soon came into town and became her spiritual director. He quickly put a stop to the bad advice. St Teresa was a very great saint already when all this happened. I wish this episode of "Miracles and prophesies" did not give children the advice to obey without question whatever the priest would tell them in confession! I myself have known of cases of priests telling students to do things I would not reveal here. This is not rare. It's common, sorry to say. Pity the poor children! But they must go to confession often. The parents need to ask questions, however, to keep them safe. One bad priest always told the children that it is a grave sin for them to tell anyone what the priest had told them because "it would break the seal of confession." If a priest tells children that, he is definitely up to no good!!!

the story is true however you're right about being careful in particular situations. We should always be sure to go to priests we can trust and we can't we have to be discerning about the advice a priest gives. Don Bosco changed the story to spit because he didn't want to put the idea of giving the 'fig' to the boys of the oratory. We will be having a few videos in the coming weeks on confession. Stay tuned. We will be going into detail about various aspects, advice for confessors, penitents, about changing confessors, etc.

The importance of regular confession needs to be stressed more and more. The parishes can begin by having it more available. The time slots you read in the parish bulletins are horrifying because they are so seldom and so short a time. So many souls go to Hell because of not being encouraged to go to Confession.

Well unless you start having apparitions then I think most of us will not having anything to that extent. But for sure we should certainly be careful.

Teresa of Avila did offend Our Lord at the confessor's instruction, but perhaps St. Don Bosco never read her writings because she writes that for the rest of her life she will cringe at the remembrance of having done such a thing. She tells all her nuns that such a thing is wrong because even if the devil does appear as Jesus, unless it is obviously the devil, any image of Jesus must be held in respect. Good priests are very, very rare. It is very important to enter the confessional with caution. Our confessions should include all mortal sins, clearly stated, true contrition, and a willingness to do the penance the priest gives us. But the Church is in such a terrible state, one can no longer trust priests not to encourage sin, not to express a prurient curiousity; not to give wretched counsel,;and even not to groom or seduce a penitent to commit Mortal sins. And if he says: "God forgives you," the Confession is totally invalid because in order for absolution to be valid, he must say: "I forgive you....." The "I" is VERY important!!!

Don Bosco seemed to tell the story in a way that would be more appropriate for his boys and to teach them a lesson on obedience to their confessors who were himself and the other priests at the oratory.

“She cringed but did as she was ordered, all the time apologizing to Jesus. Fortunately, Jesus didn’t seem upset but told her that she was right to obey her confessor. In her autobiography she would say, “I am more afraid of those who are terrified of the devil than I am of the devil himself.” The devil was not to be feared but fought by talking more about God.”

Is it don bosco or john bosco?
@donboscostories2 ай бұрын
His name is John Bosco. Don is a title. It's like saying Father Bosco or Padre Pio. It doesn't really translate to Father it's more like sir or monsignor or something like that. Many Italian priests were referred to with the suffix Don.

Only in the Catholic church.
@Eight-PointedStars2 ай бұрын
Please don't believe that. Every Catholic needs to take care not to be gullible because most of the priests don't even believe in the Four Last Things. The seminaries have been training men to be quite wicked and to destroy true Catholicism. The Church is in a very sad state, but it is not because of the Truths which Our Lord Jesus has given to us through the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church is not defined by the current clergymen.
@FrankD232 ай бұрын
Sorry but this is dumb.. Especially nowadays.. We don't live in the world with saints walking around everywhere anymore.. It's a very dangerous demonic world, even in the church. (Listen to your confessor unless he leads you to sin)
@Necro-md8vf2 ай бұрын
no that is lack of faith God never changes you’ll never go wrong doing what saints have been told by God for hundreds of years
@donboscostories2 ай бұрын
Of course, we should "test everything, retain what is good". If you have a bad confessor whom you don't trust, then take what he says with a grain of salt. If he is a holy saintly man who has been formed well like the priests of the oratory you can more freely trust them.
