I would have stopped at the Tesla Supercharger in Banbury. When I did it was when the rain was the worst too

Thanks, Phil. As an EV driver, I dislike rain even more than I used to 😀. Glad you got your sandwich and Jackson looked cosy. Interesting to see a journey through an area we don’t drive (although my mum lives in Banbury, so we are very used to the excellent selection of chargers there).

Good video. As a non ev owner at present, its really useful seeing the real life ownership/use of ev cars. Helps us thinking of buying ev car better understand any changes. Thankyou. ps, have subscribed.

Seriously, though, another useful film. Particularly good is the reminder that car park charges may apply if chargers are, for example, in hotel grounds. I’m sure this will be flagged up on signs but we were stung with this (obviously our own fault) recently when charging in Preston. I think Apps may have been modified now to flag such charges up a little more clearly but it’s always worth watching out for, especially if you are a relative novice EV owner/charger.

Why are you not using the Tesla Superchargers ?

I was aiming for the Tesla superchargers a bit further up the M1 at Mour Park hotel but had to bail as I would have cut it too fine. Leicester was the other option but the one at the retail park there is a bit of a nightmare on a Saturday, and the other one is a fair detour.

Wondered about using those but ideally I wanted to combine my charge stop with my lunch stop which meant somewhere around Leicester/Nottingham - Oxford was a bit early. Charge when stopped, don't stop to charge!

This sums up how bad EVs are, and before anyone says I'm 'anti EV', I own Model 3 LR outright, which was bought new. Its no not leased or on 'the drip'. I have other cars too which are cheaper to run...... I can insurance, tax and drive 5k miles in one car before I even turn a wheel in my Tesla just based on its insurance. In-fact, I can drive over 1k miles in my GTR for cheaper and its appreciating in value and not dropping.... Oh yes, the tax from March will allow me to drive even further in my other cars. EVs serve a purpose but they are expensive and waste your time. On the plus side, I purchased the most tax efficient way, through a company. I wouldn't buy a Model 3 Tesla with money after I;ve paid all that tax, its just not cost effective. If you are buying an EV the Chinese EVs are coming and far better built and half the price. Hold out for those and it will be a better investment. They just need to setup a charger network which is compares in price to Tesla drivers on the Supercharger network. I'm not a massive fan of China (cough, cough - Covid) for their ethics etc but you can over look that when you get a better value and made car.
