I love the simplicity of the panel - it’s a work of art and I appreciate that it seems to have been done while still being budget conscious. Not everyone has the cash for a wall of G3X Touches…

Terrific panel! No it's not a G5000. But it does everything and has everything that one needs. In my opinion, one of the best panel makeovers on youtube.. So many want the 10" dual screens and more. You have it all, just in a smaller format. The iPad is a great add-on for thousands of dollars less. i don't know why more pilots don't go that route. All the best and we look forward to riding along in the days ahead.
@angleofattack2 жыл бұрын
My panel is a lot more practical and achievable. That's what I wanted to achieve all along. I wanted to show that the regular, every day Joe could do this. Granted, it's still a major upgrade and if someone was going to do this themselves, there are cost savings without sacrificing functionality.
@kwittnebel2 жыл бұрын
@@angleofattack Hope you are enjoying the new setup. You could do a video on the dollars and cents of it all; bottom line is by using the plane for business you are in a completely different category of return on investment and overall cost than the average dude. Questions: What iPad are you running, and what are you planning to run on it typically?

Chris, so enjoyed your series of getting the plane to Osh. You had a very skilled support staff there doing the installation and all the other help they provided. The video series on your aviation journey starting in Homer has been the best narrated and edited I have seen on youtube! Entertaining, informative, and beautiful videography of sites many of us will never experience, except thru your lens. I am really looking forward to the return flight and your Cecil B DeMille production of the adventure. All the best from the lower 48.

If he were talking to a transient he’d be clearer. Once you get used to what expect, there’s only a few items to fill in, that’s all he’s listening for. “In the blind” the taxi instructions can be confusing, but on the ground, familiar and briefed, there are only a few options to expect, so it’s like option A or B. I remember when I first heard stuff like this Intjoufht the same thing, but it’s like getting used to a NY or Cajun accent, you just finally get it. If they’re asked to repeat, or repeat slower please, you’ll get the English version.

New setup looks SICK! Its how I imagine the instrument panel of the batmobile would look like. As a side note, I'd like to share a tiny tip regarding the engine run-up mags test. My instructor tought me to check the R mag first and L second, thats to illiminate the possibility of accidentally turning it short and putting it back at L instead of BOUTH as the last key turn. Eagre to see your way back to Alaska. Hope it will be a ditailed series similar to the way south.

That looks amazing, will be trying to get something like that into my 172. Probably not the engine monitoring, at least to start with, due to lack of funds🤣. So much to do, so little money 🤣. I like the way you have a “six pack” style panel but with the flexibility and info of going digital. The audio sounded great, will have to be getting some of that👍.

6000 hr ATP/A&P pilot here, plus all the hours I probably forgot to log over the years... I have enjoyed this series and look forward to the trip back to AK. I may or may not take some flack for this, but I have to be honest. The only thing I don't like is the way you 'Clear Prop'. It's funny and all, but it does sort of trivialize an important safety item, and aviation safety items should always be somewhat standardized, especially for a flight school. Other than that, the upgrade looks great. Thanks for sharing this journey with us. Throttle on!

Great reveal and a beautiful panel. I fly a D model as well and your pattern work was interesting with speed and flap. I'll have to try your method sometime. I was curious about your shoulder harness as the Johnson bar flaps require you to lean forward to actuate. I would like to install a harness system but am curious if a retractable style is needed. Thanks for sharing the journey.

Look forward to working you back into Alaskan airspace and back into HOM, assuming you go IFR. Have a safe journey back to Alaska. FYI, we don't have ADSB or radar coverage from Northway to roughly Palmer, if you use V456. We have full ADSB and/or radar coverage through southeast though if you come up that way.

Awesome stuff, Chris! Thank you for taking us on the journey with you. I have a question - which iPad do you have? And do you recommend it? I'm looking to mimic this setup with an iPad on the right side of the panel for ForeFlight (replacing an iPad mini on a yoke mount). I'm trying to decide between the iPad Pro (12.9"), iPad Pro (11"), and iPad Air (11"). It looks like they're pretty similar, but I'm curious if that extra two inches makes a huge difference! Thanks!
