On the humorous side, Circe's expression as Odysseus has his sword at her throat is very "well, this isn't how I saw that going". On the serious end, I rather like the one to two frame look of pure venom she shoots him at the end before transitioning to "Other Means". I'm not sure if she's reading "I'm not sure I follow" as basically making her *say* it out loud that she's giving her body to him and annoyed that he's rubbing it in, or if it's just a moment of getting her seduction face on to be appealing. Also, I know you said you hated it, but I actually really like the option of the Cyclops holding the Chimera down for Odysseus to slit its throat. That was a really creative way of keeping him involved in the fight rather than being a Pokemon trainer. On the flashback sequence, I notice that there's four nymphs present, but three in the present, but Circe has the same fins under her hair and black eyes in the mirror. Was the implication intended to be that Circe was the 4th nymph and basically let them take her then (like she offers to Odysseus now, and showing the same bracelet at her wrist) to protect the others, or that one was actually taken away by the previous case?
@anniflamma14968 ай бұрын

@LordVandor18 ай бұрын
I love every part of it, but as a HEMA nerd a part I liked is the fight: Circe's been practicing magic for years and she manages to conjure up a chimera, a non-existing animal she engineered herself. While Ody is not a practitioner of magic, but he's seen the cyclops with his own eyes so he's able to replicate it perfectly. I see this as a fight of theory vs practice. Also his experience as a warrior is clear, since he doesn't rely on the cyclops alone to win, but he makes it pin the chimera down so he can strike. Of course Circe didn't expect that and it shows. Also as others have said: Circe being part nymph and taller than Ody, him having Athena's bracelet, other nymphs doing stuff in the background... Astonishingly well done. Anni, you're very good at drawing but above all you are an excellent scene writer. I hope one day I can hire you for my projects (videogames with animated scenes)

Your powered up Circe design made me fucking gasp out loud:D this is so good. THIS IS SO GOOD!! I love the way you portrayed Circe as immediately sympathetic by showing the people she’s protecting and Odysseus as a threatening intruder. It fits incredibly well and I haven’t seen it in any animatics before. Typically Circe is lofty and detached, a dangerous sorceress at the nexus of her power, a threat to be overcome by the lone traveller coming in from below. This is fantastic. Time to rewatch it a hundred times, and in slow motion to notice all the epic (hah) details! (I have watched your Ruthlessness animatic a truly embarrassing amount of times btw. I honestly love the younger nymphs holding the pigs, its a cute detail (if you ignore the fact that they're actually people lol)

The addition of the fight scene is so cool! Havent seen anyone else take a similar approach but it feels so much better

especially when you consider that you can hear the roars in the song. most assume its symbolic, but it makes sense for two magic users to clash in such a way

You said you hated the fight scene but I think it was rather quite nice tbh, it's really animated and the designs are cool.The cyclops-chimera fight was cool. I like how you gave circe glowing eyes and the sun-emblem, due to her parentage with the Sun God(well, titan but wahtever, he was still worshipped during the Iliad.).I don't think I've seen anyone give her a magic wand but I thought it was cool. Also her undressing a tthe end? ENEXPECTED, that's for sure. You sure don't pull punches. Never change AnniFlama, never change.

Love how he embodies this black figure as it turns itself into more of monster as he accepts the figure

One thing I only realized just now is that in the present we only actually see 3 nymphs. However in the flashback to when they faced a heavy loss we see four nymphs, the same 3 as before but now with another one that seems to be a sort of mother figure to the others(mostly just off of appearance at least). Notably the 4th nymph has a bracelet around her wrist, and in the shot where someone grabs someone's arm we see that bracelet again. I don't know what specifically happened or if there's a basis to what happened in the original material but that is just a wonderful bit of subtle storytelling and also deeply sad considering something really bad had to have happened to lose one of the nymphs.

I absolutely love Circe's transformation at the beginning. your animations itches my brain just right.

I love the detail that the creature that was summoned is a chimera because its a powerful hybrid FEMALE creature. Since Circe hates men and is somewhat a feminist, the chimera represents her perfectly. Also in the Circe Saga you can see that the album cover has a chimera on it.

I do appreciate the lyric progression. "I *would* take the suffering from you", "I *could* take the suffering from you", "I *will* take the suffering from you". Gets progressively more pushy

I read up a bit on her and it seems in one version or maybe all for all i know is that she had three kids with him, so much for him being faithful.
