Has anyone pointed out that the whole Trojan horse plot was to fake a sacrifice to Poseidon and that's how Odysseus won the war for the Greeks? I've seen other comments about how Poseidon was nice for ignoring that Odysseus didn't make an offering for safe passage home, but that wasn't even Odysseus's biggest insult to Poseidon up til this point, the HORSE was. He faked an offering to a god and used it to violate the law of hospitality, which is like the oldest and most important rule, then he murdered a kid, and then after Poseidon ignored ALL of that, then Odysseus maimed Poseidon's son and left him to starve alone after losing all his sheep. Yeah I don't think you understand how generous it was that Odysseus and his men weren't sunk in a storm literally as they left the port.

But Aphrodite has no power of Athena (as explained in the homeric hymn to Aphrodite). It isnt a "we use all our power to try and vanguish each other" like the ares segment more of a "look i know I'll lose to you so i'll annoy you"

Ok. Hera's design is perfection. The Peacock feathers work doubly because 1) Hera is Flamboyant and 2) she was the mythological creator of the Peacock. She's absolutely enormous at points, showing how powerful she is, but it totally seems like she's just using it to be dramatic. She may be queen of the gods but she's also the queen of drama and I love her for it

I've watched this so many times and something has stuck with me is when Poseidon asks him to apologize. I feel like this is Poseidon giving Odysseus one last chance. To not try and scheme or lie his way out of trouble but to be honest not only to Poseidon but to himself that his actions weren't morally just but the brutality it was. It is the self righteousness, unwillingness to kill and get the job job done and the false morality that angers him. I feel like if Odysseus instead of saying they were just trying to escape admitted to feeling angry, hating the cyclops for killing his men, wanting revenge and needing to survive Poseidon might have actually let Odysseus and his men live. The test wasn't the reason for his actions but whether for once in his life Odysseus could be honest and not try and lie his way out of danger.
