Hi Don, just discovered you on You Tube today. Some great leatherwork tutorials, especially the ones on dyeing. Really like your pancake knife sheath too. They're not really used here in the UK, so maybe I can corner the market! Looking forward to watching more of your videos. I love the detail you go into and the handy little tips based on personal experience. Thank you.

Hi , first of all thanks for the tutorial it's a great accessorie, and second , what is the thickness of the leather in mm ?

9-10 oz is the thickness but that’s how you buy it is in ounces

So I dyed the leather how you did but when I went to oil with vegetable oil my tooling is really dark. I’m assuming because it’s wet from the oil inside. But how long does it take to go back to normal so my tooling isnt dark again?

Interested in selling your singer sewing machine when you trade up? Enjoy watching your channel. I have Parkinson’s from agent Orange in Vietnam. I took a year and a half - two years off from leather work. My PD wreaks the quality of my work, but I do it for fun and give everything away. I have a Cowboy 4500 like Bruce Cheney. Also have a Singer 15-91. Need something for lighter projects.

Do you think a Juki DDL 555 would be a good sewing machine to use to sew knife scabbards?
@The_Original_Brad_Miller6 жыл бұрын
I had a Juki heavy duty that I bought new, and it was nothing but a headache. Paid like $1600 US for it, and it was in the shop more that it was out. I wouldn't pick up the tread after a short while of use. The shop where I bought it told me "It's because it's Japanese and the tolerances were really close" Yeah, I bought that.... NOT! I wouldn't recommend it.
@cinchup116 жыл бұрын
Thank you Brad for the input. Like everybody eles I want a machine but finding the right one is the chore.

If I were to hand stitch these, what spacing would you recommend on a diamond prong chisel?
@DonGonzalesMaker7 жыл бұрын
+TheLaramieP I am not familiar with those chisels since I use an overstitch wheel and awl to handstich but I'm sure any spacing would be fine... I would lean towards the closer of what spacing you have since a tighter stitch looks cleaner.
