Every now and then you come across a KZbin video series that is gold standard and this is one of them. A diamond in the rough. Thank you so so much for taking the time and energy to bring us this. I know it has helped me already. I’m racing there tomorrow and having just moved here from Canada it’s a new track to me. Bravo sir. 👍

Thanks Scott! This video was excellent preparation for a faster and safer track day at Donnington. Your guidance certainly helped to get much more flow and speed out of the circuit. Much appreciated!

I watched and watched this video and another one with a Ford and you in it. I made notes and tried it out today but in my Honda Civic. I didn't get every line perfect but it was so good having a good idea of the lines, apex points and brake references (I've never driven at Donington) Honestly it was a great day, the advice here is great, I was absolutely flying. Definitely gonna check out your other videos for future track days 😀

Hi Driver61, I'd like to say thanks for your valuable driving tutorials on your website (which you now have generously uploaded to youtube). I watched them about 10 months ago and have been implimenting them in Sim Racing (Assetto Corsa) ever since, now my driving is better. I now understand the racing line and physics quite well. And also use Left Foot breaking on Paddle Shifter Cars The professionalism of your video tutorials is spot on! This is feedback to say, keep it up!

Stumbled upon this video today in 2022, I regularly watch the newer videos by you and just wanted to say it's so cool to see how much the channel and Scott as a presenter have evolved since this video was made. not that this video is bad, but the production and presentation quality on newer videos is so much higher :)

Just got into iRacing and Donington is up this week for the Ferrari 488 Challenge series. I knew there was only one place to go for a detailed breakdown. Thanks for the hard work, it's really appreciated.

A good, solid, easy to follow guide. Driven this a few times now but there's always a little extra to find; hopefully this'll do the trick - certainly a few tenths at Coppice! Thanks

Hi Giles, thanks very much for the feedback. Be sure to check out the other circuit guides at driver61.com/resources/circuit-guide/ Coppice is the most difficult/important corner at Donny, good luck with it! Scott

Wow, absolutely brilliant! This level of detail is amazing. I'm gearing up for my 2nd sim race (GT3) and am finding Donington Park (GP layout) very tricky. This video has been extremely helpful illustrating some of my mistakes that I didn't even notice. For example, the false apex at McLean's and positioning coming out of coppice. I can't wait to get back on the track tomorrow. Thanks so much for the great video. You've gained a new subscriber. :)

Ended up qualifying P7 out of 16 with a time of 1:29:118 in the BMW Z4 GT3. Ended the race in P9 after many many spins. Couldn't really get Goddards down well. I felt like there was a lot of potential time there.

Absolutely love the information. Presentation wise, I’m excited to see the brand grow in production value. In my opinion, a larger video of the technical information would have maximum additional value. Watching a person just talk adds little to no additional value. I think with a tablet in front of you to control graphics and overlays it could be streamlined through the presentation. Just a thought you didn’t ask for.

Terrific Scott, yes please do some more circuits. Brands Hatch would be great, Snett, Silverstone, Anglesey, Oulton, I'm still baffled by at least one corner of them all!

+LupinYonder Thanks! It'd be interesting to know what the sim drivers think about it. I use sims myself and with my drivers, they are of massive value to us. Which sim do you use?

Driver61 Assetto Corsa at the moment. It has a very progressive feeling tyre model and a good selection of road and track cars. It's probably the best sim balancing physics and graphics but it does lack some of the race mechanics such as a rules etc.. I too think sims are useful real racers, I'm not one myself but have a keen interest. I went karting recently and hadn't been since I was a teen ( 33 now ) but I was half a second quicker than everyone else purely due to knowing a little of how to get speed out of a track, how to take a good line and how to balance the throttle in the corners.

Hey, I recently purchased a racing wheel (T-150), a Vive Virtual Reality headset, and Project Cars (not a true sim but the only game out there that supports VR right now). First circuit I tried was Donington Park and after struggling around Redgate and Coppice for a few days, found your video. Thank you so much for the detailed breakdown of every turn, I cannot overstate how invaluable this information is. Hoping to set some new lap times tonight! Have you tried the HTC Vive or Oculus Rift? If you sim-race, I would argue that a VR headset is an absolute must now, it really does make it feel like you're there (minus the G-forces)

I've got a best lap of 1:15.1 on Donnington Park with a Lamborghini Gallardo SL on Assetto Corsa simulator. (While setting the track traction one notch below optimal) The video is on my Channel. Now after watching your specific track tutorial, Im going to try to get my best lap down to 1:14.5 in the Gallardo SL. I also get a similar Laptime with the Nismo GTR (1:15.1)

+Driver61 I'm racing in the 750mc Locost championship this year and the first race is Donington where I haven't raced before so this was great. Personally I would also like to see Snetterton, Brands and Silverstone. We also visit Cadwell, Croft and Anglesey where I have been before, but wouldn't hurt to see you walking through them too! Thanks, and keep up the good work!

Also watchin g your Drivers university wich is excellent!

I was watching British GT 3-hour race at Donington and I noticed all the cars went really wide through the old hairpin. Most of them wasn't even close to the apex. Why would they do that? Trying to conserve their brakes maybe?
