Boss did make NCT more recognizable and famous. There are a lot of idols/trainess covered boss. Also, the dreamies (nct dream) considers BOSS as the song they wanted to perform the most (they did a cover in their concert). Musically and the Choreography clicked to many so I think BOSS is a special track to NCT.

I love the part during the chorus where they are in a line doing the arm rolls and then change the formation into a V, right before Mark's rap. It's just soooooo smooth and looks great. And how they finish the little dance break at the end of the song is just chef's kiss. And I'll never fangirl enough over how smooth the intro is where Taeyong starts rapping and the rest just bends down and slides. Crazy. They added Lucas and Jungwoo to NCT through this comeback! The song is from the album Empathy and the lyrics are basically saying that the members will become the leader/boss for us, that we can trust them and "come closer". The whole Empathy concept was basically NCT saying that society needs more empathy and connection. It's a very energetic song, seeing It on stage was amazing, it's so powerful! NCT really has this powerful, energetic, hard-hitting, bad boy vibe compared to NCT Dream. And the MV is really aesthetic. Sadly my life will never be the same after seeing the fanmade distorted version of Boss 😂

NCT U put out a few great songs and choreos in 2018 as part of the big NCT Empathy project where all units come together on one album (the most recent big project album was NCT 2020 which gave us Make A Wish, 90s Love and Work It dances). NCT U, because it is a rotational group, doesn't have a regular "comeback" schedule like the other units do. Their songs are mostly associated with the large projects or with just a single. Definitely check out the other NCT U tracks from that album, the dances are amazing. The duo of Taeyong and Ten did Baby Don't Stop and then all members (then 18) did Black on Black. They filmed the MV for Boss (and Baby Don't Stop) in Ukraine and the settings are truly an amazing aesthetic that really makes the MVs stand out. The use of space is really great too because they start off very separated in different locations in the MV, suspicious of one another and even fighting on table at one point but then they overcome their differences and realise they don't need to be at odds but dance together and end together. NCT U does stand for NCT United after all ;) This choreo actually reminds me of 7th Sense in a way. Not because the songs or steps are the same but because both choreos rely so much on musicality and understanding the attitude and groove of the track rather than super "hard" moves in themselves. Both pieces drip with so much character and both were iconic :D

A lot of peeps are asking for me to check out Baby Don't Stop. So I definitely am looking forward to that. You have a good insight though. I'd like to agree with you that 7th Sense and Boss have a similar attitude and vibe. I feel that the main differences are that 7th Sense is a lot more complex in musicality due to the song being slower in tempo, while Boss' musicality is more constant on beat.

Naah I said what I said, that u will keep re arrange as long as u keep watch on them, they just such a piece of art, boss is a masterpiece, many people say that a lot of producer or agency willing to make a mv like boss or even the vibe of the boss but naaah, they can make another masterpiece but they cannot replace or just remake the masterpiece boss, nctu boss just hit different thing and put a high quality definition of art, the vocal, the rap, the dance, the visual, the vibe strong confidence....
