C'est à la Réunion en 1994 que j'ai entendu du soukouss pour la 1ère fois et dansé avec Alain Kounkou au Star Club de Saint Pierre un petit peu + tard et depuis j'écoute toujours du soukouss, c'est génial 😍 Je suis métropolitain et j'adore l'Afrique (et La Réunion)...

Heureux de voir enfin la technique de la guitare soukous congolaise être reconnue à travers le monde. À voir les commentaires des gens découvrant cette technique, on verra peut-être un jour Dr. Nico et les autres entrer dans le hit des plus grands guitaristes de tous les temps, où jusqu’alors ils étaient simplement ignorés malgré leur talent et leur créativité. Vive la culture congolaise.

For all of you out there , please appreciate and remember this young man is playing great African soukous music . It mainly Congolese guitars and we all dance to soukous in East Africa and not west Africa. It’s East and Africa music.

Rumba and Soukous originated in and are predominately played in central Africa, particularly in the two congo's and Angola. People also dance to Soukous in West Africa - it influenced many of their musical genres including highlife and makossa.

We should be careful with white Americans and cultural appropriation..they are probably planning to steal this genre of music by registering copy rights in the US and later preventing even the original creators , the Congolese, from playing it internationally without prior authorization from the pirates!
