For sure. Unfortunately, I think Tropical Freeze was the spiritual successor of the N64 era DKC’s. I say unfortunately because I found TF to be too linear and not all that fun. What we really need is a Breath of the Wild type Donkey Kong. I think they need to rethink just giving us a traditional side-scroller. C’mon Nintendo, you’re good at thinking outside the box!

Ryu, when an exclamation mark appears in the level's name, that means you got all the bonuses from that level. You skipped some bonuses. I'm pretty sure you need all of them, and the DK coins, to get the true ending.
@the.bloodless.one1312
@the.bloodless.one1312 10 ай бұрын
You don’t need the DK coins for the true ending in DKC2, in DKC3 you do. You do need all the kremcoins tho. And it’s fkn worth it. This game is a DREAM to 100%, every so often I just fire it up and 100% it in one sitting 🥰🦍🍌
@patrick3876
@patrick3876 10 ай бұрын
For 102% completion on your save file, you need to complete all the bonus rooms (also because you need to get all the Kremkoins to unlock all the levels in The Lost World). You'll see '!' after the level name if you got all the bonus rooms in a level. In The Lost World, each level has only 1 bonus room and it contains the DK coin for that level, so only those DK coins are required (because technically the requirement is to complete the bonus room). Aside from that you need to finish all levels and bosses and also need to visit all the Kongs at least once (Cranky, Funky, Swanky and Wrinkly). EDIT: Corrected error about DK coins because some confusion between true ending and 102% requirements.
@gustru2078
@gustru2078 10 ай бұрын
@@patrick3876 Of course you need all of them for 102% completion. You however do not in order to get the 2nd fight against K.Rool. Anyway to me, you aren't getting the true ending unless Mario is 2nd place.
@gabrielcharest243

Getting all the DK coin just make you number 1 on the podium instead of Mario Only n the bonus games coin are needed to beat the final boss But that the ! at the end of level names indicate that all bonus have been completed

Hi Ryu, just a tip with the snake. You can "walk off" or fall from a platform with the small bounce the snake does when it walks and then press the jump button to do a midair jump. Will be useful in harder levels with the snake

5:55 DKC2 "expert" here: Beating Jungle Jinx does do something valuable for you: beating that level, and getting the DK Coin from the bonus, gets you closer to the 102% clear rate. You also need to beat each level in the Lost World (but not necessarily collect the bonus DK coin) in order to fight the boss of Lost World. Each Lost World level only has one bonus, and the prize is a DK coin. In the original SNES version of the game, when you save and quit, yes, your lives and banana coins reset. They reset anytime you reload a save: this includes beating the final boss, sitting through the credits, and then going back into the save game. Experienced players plan accordingly. However, saving the game does cause some things to persist: your lives and coins won't persist, but the levels you've beaten will persist. As well, any Kong college you've saved at, and any Funky's Flights you've purchased a flight ticket at, do persist when you save. To get out of a world, you have to use Funky's Flights, or beat the world boss again. Protip: You can go back to a previous world to save the game, when you beat a boss for the first time. Before moving on to the next new world, go back to a previous world, save, then catch a Funky's Flight out of there to the new world. If you need banana coins, it's easy to farm them in world 1. You will need to pay 2 banana coins for a Funky's Flight ticket in **each** world, but you only need to pay once per world, assuming you save the game afterwards. Saving the game will almost always be free during your first save in that particular world, but will always cost 2 banana coins thereafter, in that particular world. Plan accordingly, and play smart. Or farm for coins. You can play smart by holding off on saving until you unlocked the world boss, or you're down to your last life, whichever happens first. Yes, I'm a try-hard, oh well. You can use this information as you wish, or disregard it; how you play is up to you. I'm just trying to help.

Very nice! Yes, more Donkey Kong Country 2, Battle Kid, Star Fox 64 and more retro games in general! I was actually nervous this whole video that he wasn't going to save and he would have to do everything all over! I grew up when this game was released so it holds a special place in my gamer's heart and I think it still holds up really well (though, I might be biased due to nostalgia). So in the GBA version of this game, the KONG letters actually _do_ count towards completion, which makes it slightly more challenging. I think the good thing about that version is that I believe it does save your lives and coins if you power down the game, though.

By all means, continue until the end! The reason why you couldn't figure out how to leave Krazy Kremland is that there actually was no way back. It was part of the challenge of the DKC games that you had to fight your way to Kong Kollege or Funky's Flights first, or all your progress would be lost. That's why we had farmed Balloons in world 1 every time before we entered a new world in the Olde Times... (BTW just loved how you first-tried Black Ice Battle only to die multiple times because of the bonus 😂)

Okay Ryu, so a little tip regarding Rattly the Snake's movement You know when you press right or left in your controller and Rattly will do a small bounce? Well, after said small bounce, Rattly can still jump in the air with the B button. Its useful for reaching higher areas without having to do the super jump; 1: like in the bonus where you have to collect stars, Or 2: if you do it over a pit you can do something similar to Diddy's Cartwheel jump to get the DK coin; both examples in the Rattle Battle stage This movement tip shall be useful in the later, and harder stages with Rattly. Hope it helps.

I love this game and I'll certainly watch every piece of content you bring out featuring it. To me it's one of the best 2D platformers ever made and a strong contender for one of the best games overall (although nostalgia certainly plays a role in that assessment). Despite the brilliant level design and perfect OST, I love all the little details (e.g. in the honeycomb levels if you're stuck to a wall and idle a little, the monkeys start eating the honey). It's clearly made with so much love and inspiration, it's hard not to adore it. In terms of completion, I would strongly suggest that you prioritize finding the bonus levels and getting the Krem coins because those unlock additional stages and eventually the true ending. The secret levels are amazing and very creative, they often feature gimmicks not seen anywhere else in the game and should be experienced. The DK coins are nice secrets to find, but they only count towards percentage completion and don't unlock anything.
