I will never not find it funny that one of the most complex, varied, and atmospheric video game soundtracks of all time comes not from an epic RPG or plot-heavy adventure, but a platformer about a pair of monkeys fighting alligator pirates. A great rearrangement of a legendary soundtrack.
@Crichjo323 жыл бұрын
I know right, if you listened to this without knowing any of the context, you would just assume it's from some epic pirate movie - not a decades old game about monkeys jumping on crocodiles.

I think what I love most about this game is that unlike the first one, K. Rool's presence is felt from the _very beginning._ The first track you hear at the title screen is called "K. Rool Returns," and that leitmotif is heard as you traverse through Crocodile Isle, and in Crocodile Cacophany. What's more, his presence is felt through Donkey Kong's _absence._ You're playing the entire game as Diddy, a sidekick rising up to heroism by necessity, all while Cranky is talking down to you the entire time. It all culminates in a poetic finale where K. Rool, after being built up to this entire time, gives you a fight worthy of the pirate king. And what's more, you get a rematch against him thanks to Klubba, and it's one big gauntlet without Donkey Kong to help you. K. Rool's not messing around anymore, finally recognizing Diddy as a threat, and you get one shot to hit him. Even after that rematch and the explosion of his ancestral home, K. Rool still sails away, laughing it off, and the Kongs know they only live on borrowed time to prepare for the next encounter.
