Yeah with all the spider imagery and smaller spiders throughout the Forest, as well as this monstrosity of a level, a spider boss would have made sense. At least they got it right in Autumn Heights in Tropical Freeze, placing owls and owl imagery everywhere before pitting you against Sephirowl the Two-Winged Bird.

This was one freaky level. I'm not really scared of spiders, but this level freaked me out. Besides the level's challenge (getting the Puzzle Pieces AND the Kong letters), the level was also a tease. I thought the spiders' eggs were oranges, so when I broke down the barriers, I was shocked. I'd be shocked by a horde of spiders chasing after me!

at first i thought TIDAL TERROR was the hardest level. BOY was I wrong. You have to MASTER the spinning jump to get all the letters and puzzle peices. I Will Never play this level again. What's funny though, is that the boss of this world is damn easy.
